Well when my dad was in he was in charge of emergency management. Said they will call out pete field once the academy is under stress, possibly sooner. He imagines the base is prepping to send out aircraft.

i still think wildfires are one of the coolest sights to watch, it amazes me how fast they can move and how the smoke can create it's own weather.

Three new fires in Utah today. None of them shooting related either.

Here's a picture from near the middle of COS. If you look to the left of the picture, you can see a puff of dark smoke, and a teeny fire. I think a tree must have topped out right when I took the picture.

Look how dim the close up is, this is at 5 in the afternoon looking west

We're in pre-evac now and I'm loading up both vehicles. Another fire just started down 67 near Trout Creek Road. This is about 10 miles out of Woodland. That fire is about 1/2 mile off 67. I can't imagine it will be long until 67 is shut down. Woodland is a ghost town right now.

I don't have a clue WTH I'm doing. I am training for a big race in 4 weeks so I actually left last night about 5 and rode up towards Denver and camped and then jumped on the Colorado Trail this morning and rode all the way to Bailey. I decided to check my phone there and my wife told me to start heading home because she was getting packed up. I hauled the mail back to about where that Trout Creek fire is when I saw her coming the other way to pick me up. I'm likely going to stay here until I'm told to GTFO. Never had to deal with anything like this.

Since 24 is closed I imagine shooting down Old stage/upper gold camp would be way faster trip to springs than going all the way to pueblo to connect :dunno:
