Hey guys - Would an 01 XJ with the RE 3.5" Super Flex and 31's be ok on this trail? No armor yet. I would love to tag along if you think I could keep up.

You can keep up, make sure you have tow points and expect some rock damage.

Thanks.

I have a Warn Front Bumper with 2 D-Rings and a Tow Hitch in the back. I am going to buy a tow hook for it this weekend. I am also going to buy a set of JKS Super Nerfs sometime in May and maybe a Gas and Belly Skid as well.

Without the rock rails and skid plates you could hurt your Jeep. Do you have a limited slip or locker in the rear? With 33's and good driving it can be done with open diffs, but with 31's you at least need something in the rear.

I can remember a few guys in the past that have had exactly the rig he is describing. As far as I know, none of them had any major issues, maybe a tug at the most.

8.25 Limited Slip in the rear and open in the front.

I am not trying to be over paranoid or anything. I just don't wanna be that guy who holds everyone up cause he isn't set up right for the trail I am running.

That must have been before Richard's Rock Removal Crew come through ;)

I'm pretty sure I'll be there again this year. With a couple of extra inches of lift and a new set of 35" MTR's I'm hoping I won't be cuttin up any more sidewalls this time and just have'n some fun. This time I may bring my daughters and give my oldest a little experience off the paved roads, now that she's a legal(?) driver and all. That is if I'M brave enough.

As a side note for anybody trying this type of trail for the first time. Please make sure that any tow points are SECURELY fastened to the vehichle. As we found out last year, one bolt through the frame isn't enough. Okay, off my soapbox now.

Lookin forward to seein everyone again this year and havin fun up there. I just wonder if all the snow will be gone by then the way things are going so far this year. It could make the lake a bit chilly (more than usual!) to take a dip in. :shiver:

I"d like to say "count me in" but need to know, are lockers
a MUST for this run? Haven't gotten round to getting those
yet but it could happen by then.

I would say it would be ok if this doesn't happen again:

But, I won't be there this year. :D

Honestly, drive down. You can leave it at the Bald Mt. ohv area. Then Ride with one of us! Then mess around on sunday on Bald mt. They had ALOT of problems with rigs going through without lockers. I went through with a limited slip 2 times. And it wasnt very easy.

33's without lockers works OK. 31's without lockers is a no go. Really, you should have at least a locker or limited slip in the rear.
