Maybe you should go watch his movie then, he has a graph that shows these cycles as well as this current cycle, which is much different than before.

temps_north_til_2000.jpg

As usual, the graph was modified to look worse than it is. It is a pretty common scare tactic.

There are more points on the graph between 1800-2000 making it seem as though the temperature is fluctuating more than it was previously. The spacing between the points should be even throughout the graph, and they are not. If you would average the readings between 1800-200 they would match the previous years. While the information is accurate, it is not being presented correctly.

Since we are voicing opinions, I'll voice mine.

I believe we have an affect, though I can not say to say what amount.
We certainly leave our mark on the land, and there are a bunch less trees and green spaces around here than there was even 10 years ago.

Every time I look, folks are moving further and further away from where other people are. This reduces green space, increases energy use (commuting), and puts strains on local governments which now have to supply services that these folks demand.

We travel by air much more than we used to. A trip (for example) from Madison to Denver uses 10K lbs worth of fuel and puts polutants in the upper atmosphere.

In the last 3 decades, we have sent up more rockets into the upper reaches of our atmoshere to measure the ozone layer. Yet, as anyone can tell you, you can not measure something without affecting it. We have also sent rockets beyond our atmosphere and what about the plasma generated on re-entry?

I don't know the answer or whether "Global Warming" is something to get all tripped about. I just know that I hate seeing needles on a pine tree which is near the road, all brown and dead. I hate it that though we make cars less poluting than they were, we have put more on the road to take their place. I hate the crowding. I hate the polution and the waste. I hate going into the woods and finding a familiar wheeling spot all trashed up with sofas, or car parts or cans, or all of it.

Most of all, I hate being torn between my love of Motorsports and being a Conservationist at heart, and being at "war" with folks who just want the things I want, the outdoors, stoping urban sprawl, clean air and water.

I just wish there was a middle ground.

livin in upstate ny.. i say bring on some warmer weather! :yelclap:

I agree with you completely. Especially the last statement because im love almost anything with an engine and im going to school for engineering with the aim at working with some sort of engine after school. People ask me why i recycle when they see me driving around or offroading in a jeep, but i guess its the little things that count.

Amen !
I just think when you look at it and say it is all BS it is kind of like the old guy at Mt. St. Helen's who thought those scientists were just idiots too. Another thing I have noticed about people who oppose the studies is they are so quick to call you an idiot or put you down because you agree with Science. What is that all about ? If you chose to listen to the politcians and people paid for by Corporations over science you might think about where you may end up.
Good Points though Zuke !

People don't call you an idiot because you agree with science. They call you an idiot because you agree with faulty science.

Seriously how do you know that it is faulty ? Because Glen Beck from Fox TV said so ?

I do agree with you on this though :)

I like fatties.

I also like big SUV's, cow meat, and the sun.

No, its not because Glen Beck said so. Im not stupid. I'm not a sheep either and I won't go along with the mainstream idea that we are killing the planet because a few scientists paid for by the likes of Al Gore tell me too.

I think its a little more than a few scientists that are saying this, lets not be too stubborn and ignorant now.

Fair enough, but the other side that disputes it are paid also. So it is a matter of who do you believe ?
What is in it for AL ? What is in it for the other side ? So now you just pick your poison I guess. I know your not stupid, but you threw Becks name out there. That would be like me quoting Oberman. Those yahoos are just making money firing people up. Though I do like Stewart and Cobert, That stuff is funny.

It is a lot more then a few scientist like Beach said also. They are world wide and by the thousands. This goes way beyond the USAs political battlefield.

Moab here is a Good Site that brings some of your points up also about Cycles and such. Check it out when you get a chance. It isn't just from the Leftie view point.

If you would have read my earlier post you would have seen where I think both sides are screwed up. My point was that I think its stupid to just follow right in line with either side. I am a definite middle ground. Al Gore is not middle ground which is where this thread started.

Yeah your right. My bad I hi-jacked it.

Nevermind the fact that these scientists supporting manmade global warming receive their grants and funding via Liberal politicians.

There is quite a bit of flawed information out there about global warming. Here is another graph I got from a web-site that supports the theory of global warming.

3way8fp.png

While the information at the right of the graph in the red looks dramatic, it came from another source so it is not exactly accurate.

In the carbon dioxide graph, they are getting the data presented in the red from measurements taken in Hawaii. I guess these "scientists" don't understand how to eliminate as many extraneous variables as possible. There has been an ongoing volcanic eruption in Hawaii that puts out more CO2 than we could ever accomplish by driving SUVs.

I don't agree or disagree with the theory because we don't have enough information about it yet. All Al Gore is doing by putting out a movie like "An Unaccurate Truth" is causing everyone to get their panties in a bunch about something we aren't even sure about, and creating a need for him in politics to save our world.

Anyone seen the episode of South Park where he trapped the boys in a cave when he was trying to kill man-bear-pig?

Yep it is pretty funny. All South Parks are funny, Educational too. There is always a political or cultural statement of some sort. That is why Comedy Central is so good. They poke fun at all the stuff people get all worked up about. Though some chose to take even them seriously.

and that the other side gets fat checks from Oil Companies and other Corporations that would be made to cut emmissions if proven correct. Like we have been saying for every answer the left has the right has one to counter it and vise versa. Going in circles seems to be the chosen path in Washington and a large portion of America today. :dunno:
