Hello my name is Andrew and i am running for the director position on the BOD.

Little about myself. i am 27 years old, been married to my wife Mary for seven. some of you have met her either at WF or brewfest where someone named here the "hen". my two boys (6 and 2)stay home most of the time when me and the ol lady are at the NAXJA events. as a family we all love camping and wheeling, though the wife gets a little paranoid wheeling with the kiddos in the jeep. my XJ is my daily driver, i have been purposely dragging my feet on getting a "gas saver" road ready because i just plain love driving my jeep. i got my xj in 08 and came to NAXJA in 09 after wheeling with a group of you guys down at the badlands. I have been to WF ohten,11 and 12, and the brewfest of those years also. i have met, wheeled, drank, and wrenched with a lot of great people from this group.

if elected, i hope to contribute all i can to the BOD, and keep the MWC the top chapter of NAXJA. thank you for the opportunity. if there are any questions i will answer them the best i can.

What do you see as a priority to improve the chapter?

This is a very tough question sir. from the outside looking in it doesn't look like their is much to improve on. the number of members showing up to events is already pretty high. and when the membership brings up an idea the BOD acts on it. i did like the membership growth and enhancement program. i feel like the giveaways get the membership excited. maybe a random t-shirt or hat giveaway. more meet and greets might be nice too, get people to know each other more than "i think i followed him down green once".

This is a question for all that are running for a position, no one being singled out, nothing implied, just a general observation and question.

In recent years, the involvement of the BOD in functions outside of the general Illinios and Indiana area has been limited. If we continue to want to be the largest and best chapter out there, what efforts would you put forth to get the "outreach" and efforts to go beyond the core Red Bird and Badlands trips? What efforts could be directed to membership retainment?

Thanks,
Cheese "inquiring minds" Man

I would like to see more trail runs started in the other states. we have been seeing more and more threads started in the staging section for runs in other states. it has been said before that if you want a second formal run its gotta be set up over time. wheelers R&V trip is 2 years strong with a pretty good turn out. it shows that there are runs going on outside of the IL/IN guys.

hasta WF shall stay in attica :D

i have yet to attend a clean up, mostly due to not being able to make the dates. but if you are referring to contacting redbird on the dates that the club will be down there and setting every thing up with them. then of course id be willing

Alot of talk is about spreading the love out in the LARGE chapter that we have. I see we clean up at Redbird twice each year. Are you opposed to going there once and then helping clean up another park or area somewhere else in the MWC the other time?

We are required to clean it twice a year in our agreement with the DNR.

Rew, if elected, do you see any agenda items (nothing known of or implied here) that you are wanting to tackle right off the bat or just keep things rolling as they are?

Thanks,

As Arron and Dan already pointed out the commitment with redbird is twice a year. as for other state owned land that has clean up programs. If i were elected and it was brought up i would certainly bring it up to the rest of the BOD during the monthly meetings. i am sure something like that would have to be voted on.

I believe this ship is running smooth. my reason for running is that i want to give back to this community. get in there, get an idea of whats going on behind the curtain, and help out where i can. i don't plan on leaving any time soon. so i want to keep the ship i track.

BACON!

I see said the blind guy!!

Is this some sort of binding contract? Still curious about the candidates input on only going there once.

if it were not in a contract. i would think one cleanup a year would probably be enough. but having not been to a cleanup yet i cant answer that 100% going with what i have seen in pics over the years, its not like they are dragging 3-4 bags of trash out of there and IIRC only one tree was in the way of a bypass.(in the years i have been around)

I will answer this for all. We are under contract with the DNR for twice a year, we will NOT go just once a year. We will continue to go twice a year.

werd!

What are your thoughts on the club joining together for a voluntary act to help out a community in trouble?

like lets say getting a group together to help cleaning up after a tornado/flood/high-winds type stuff, maybe parks and forest perseveres that could use voluntary work. anything that can get the NAXJA name out there helping land type situations and making great meet and greets out of it.

I like the idea. volunteer work is always good and if it can get the word out that ORV enthusiast are out there to help the land rather than hurt it then that's a plus.

Polls are open, i just want to say out of the three people running their is no wrong choice for this position. members get out there and vote!
