A photo assignment for April.

I've got an idea....

I know it's not April yet but I have an idea and you might need a little time to prepare for this one.

The theme.... End of Days.

The rules...

The photo must have your jeep in it.

It must project your idea or feeling of what it would be like to be alone, with your Jeep trying to survive an apocalyptic future. Zombies, a world wide EMP bomb, Obama winning a second term. I don't care.

The photo must be taken between now and the end of April.

I've been reading too many end of days novels lately and while I spend most of my time driving, alone through desolate country like the interior of Nevada, I spend a lot of time thinking of these things.

Abandoned route 61 in Centralia Pennsylvania. The 4 lane road began cracking and collapsing years after an underground coal vein lit on fire maybe a mile from this spot. On some days smoke billows out of the cracks and other places throughout the town. The ground is much too hot to touch in places. The town went from a population of over a thousand and are down to no more than 10 inhabitants. Every time I go there seems to be one more house missing. The few people that still live there seem to not care, or think it is one big hoax put on by the government so they can mine the area. It has been said the fire could continue to burn for hundreds of years to come. I have heard, that to contain it, a 300 foot deep trench would have to be dug in a 3 mile radius from the center of the fire.

You can google it and get plenty more info. Its pretty interesting.
