i live downtown in sacto and usually go to the les schwab on bradshaw for tire mount/balance and alignment stuff. is there a decent 4x4 place in or close to town that does 4x4 alignments? the guys at les schwab seem like they dont know what they are doing sometimes when i bring in my jeep, id rather do it myself if theyd let me use the alignment machine, i dunno, id much rather support a naxja -worked shop anyway...oh ya, i need an alignment

A couple of jack stands and a tape measure is all you need. Can't really adjust camber without changing balljoints, and caster can be moved if you got adjustable control arms, but from my experience you set the pinion angle and just deal with castor where ever it is.

i read about the fact you cant really change camber. then what i should ask is then, what should my toe in be. i mean, how much more in should the front of the front tires be pointing versus the back of the front tires? should it be like 1.5"-2"? or should it be like 1/4"-1/2" ?

Just make sure the jack stands are under you front axle, and all the weight of the vehicle is on them. mark a spot on the tread of both tires that is easily measured from, like the side of a tread. Use the same 2 marks to measure front and back, just rotate the tires so you can use the same mark. Around 1/4" of toe in is perfect. Centering the steering wheel once you se the toe is pretty easy, just bring your tools along and go for a drive. Keep adjusting the drag link until your steering wheel is straight.

thank you for all the help guys. i have the 231 and ill be doing the alignment very soon...
