...ummmm, yeah that axle is for a semi? what is that link for? i googled "dana metric 40" and nothing came up. i also searched these forums for the same thing and didn't come up with anything. what exactly are you trying to say by "good fishing round here"? and one more thing...where did you see "44" stapmed in the case in those pictures?

:banghead:

ok the joke's on me...nice work terry u had me...i actually googled the 40 before i replied and didn't come up with anything. but yeah u got me

Nice haul at the PAP. We were watheching Extreme Home Makeover (or whatever that show is called) and they were walking through a junkyard and I was like, "Did you see that Cherokee, how' bout the Comanche?" My wife just rolled he eyes.

Dude, I hate to tell you this, but that's a metric 40.
They were in very limited numbers, because they were the first of it's kind released in '87 and the project was cut after they had already released several hundred.
It's the housing of a 44 and the internals of a 35 with 30 spider and side gears.
That's why it has "44" on the case.
Why do you think you got it so cheap.
Those are in all of the yards here.

I think I'm going fishing. I don't want to be around for the finale of this one. :laugh3:

I was watching that thinking the same thing, the Comanche looked pretty good.

You guys noticed the Comanche too? :laugh3:

My sister was watching Big Fish with her boyfriend several months back and and managed to pick out the first gen Charger in it, then a week later they saw a comercial with a Dodge Shadow or Plymouth Sundance in it and not only did she recognize the car, but she hey look it's a Shadow, my brother used to have one of those! Her boyfriend didn't know what to say on both occasions for some reason!

whoa easy there...
did your jeep have one wheel with one lug nut on it...completely covered with oil from the front bumper to the rear leaf mounts...faded rust colored paint and a completely bastardized dash? =p i've never seen such an oily rig--maybe you should take better care of it and they won't tow it away next time. or is that some new technique for sliding over rocks when you only have a 2" lift???

well in the midwest (where i am from) rust is an issue and a good rust protector is oil...

that and i was about to replace the rear main seal which was teh cause of some of the leaking...
