A/C valves and using Freeze12

gone postal

NAXJA Forum User
Answered my own question after messing w/ it for awhile, but heres a new one:

The more I look at it, I think it is a R134 port and I want to remove it (probably some OTC retrofit kit done by the previous owner). Can I just unscrew it or will freon shoot out? Do I have the close the valve facing the engine block first? I want to get it back to stock so that I can take it in and get the system vacuumed out and start from scratch w/ this Freeze12. Also, I know when the two are mixed it makes a shaving cream looking consistency....it doesn't appear that way when looking through the A/C viewing window - looks clear. Is it possible this is still salvagable or is my system screwed??

well.... you probably have a contaminated system, it's gonna have a little bit of R12 in the mix of R134, most shops wont even TOUCH that mix... it's 100% useless to them. IS there a R134 retrofit sticker anywhere under the hood? usually when places convert over they are required by law to put a little sticker that says they converted you over.
either way, if the valves are both backed out 100% you should have NO problem taking off that little r134 adapter. but if you wanna get the system purged and flushed, you probably want to leave it on so that who ever does it knows whats inside.
read my post on the 1st page about A/C systems, theres a lot of info in there

Take the blue cap off and post a picture. The cap don't do anything accept protect the fitting. If it's threaded it's r12.
It looks like a r12 fitting to me.
The R134 fittings look like big air tool fittings and don't have threads.

EDIT: that does look like my old r12 fitting actually...
and what they said.
