Need to replace the a/c clutch, and it was suggested that I do the entire compressor/clutch which seems reasonable. So my questions:

1. The Haynes manual suggests that I replace the accumulator anytime the compressor is replaced but didn't explain why. Really necessary???

2. The shop that I am going to have evacuate the R-134 ($90 labor to do an evac and refill + cost of R-134) told me to make sure that the replacement compressor is oiled.
A. Will a new one come "pre-oiled"?
B. What kind of oil does it need?

3. Any idea how many pounds of R-134 the ZJ would take to refill from empty?

4. Other option....I don't need A/C for several more months. Could I just get a new belt to fit the Jeep with the A/C delete and just run it? Would that keep the A/C clutch and compressor from working?

Anything else any of y'all think would be approriate for me to know before doing this swap?

The accumulator acts as a filter for the system so normally you always replace it with the compressor. Some compressors come with oil some don't you want to use peg oil if not. They can inject the oil after the comp is installed if you don't put it in when doing the install. The freon they evacuate they can reuse so make sure they don't charge you For an empty system.

The AC sticker underhood should say the approx amount of freon used in the system. R134a is fairily inexpensive.

if you're looking to make it driveable without the AC look at Dorman's webpage. They have a bunch of AC delete pulleys that you just bolt on andyou use the same belt and all. It ust replaces the AC compressor with an idler.

The accumulator is cheap and it protects an expensive AC compressor.

Oil is going to depend on whom you purchase compressor from documentation with the compressor with spcify what oil it needs to be. Most of them are PAG.
Here's the SAnden documentation:

I've assumed it has a sanden compressor.
