Hello all...

I'm having a problem getting my remote door locks to work anylonger. It always work fine up till a few months ago it intermittantly started not to work until finally it stopped all together. I have to transmitters of which I replaced the batteries on both and then it worked once up close to the vehicle. But stopped as well.

Is there something or somehwere I can check to see anything? I don't have a clue how this works or connects on the auto side. Any help would be appraciated.

Thanks....

May just be bad remotes. Most dealerships will have a remote tester to see if they still transmit. The only way to program a remote is at the dealer using a DRBIII scan tool. I would suspect it to be just bad remotes. The new ones will look different than the old ones, but will work the same. Now this is assuming all the door locks work fine from the inside switches on both fromt doors. My dealer will charge $50 just to program the remotes, they may even check your old remotes and then program the new ones for about the same price.

No it's not the remotes. I have had a spare that I really never used and it too did not work. The thing is, is that they sometimes work intermitantly and only at close range. And when I say close range I mean like right next to the car. I need to know where the sensor or whatever is on the car that reads the remotes..

thanks,

Well, the receiver for the remotes is in the passenger door module. This is the switch pod assy in the passenger front door. When you replace this module, you will need to have both the remotes reprogrammed by the dealer. This isn't uncommon for this module to go out, but usually when it goes bad the door locks and windows are affected too, not just the remote receiver. Also be sure to get some replacement door panel retainer clips too.

Thanks for the info Bryan... You know I did replace the passenger side electric mirror. I wonder if this could have caused a problem. All the windows and mirrors work still but maybe something happened to it when I replaced it. But like I said, it still occasionally works up close. But I would think that being electric, it's one of those things that either it works or doesn't...

Thanks...
