95 model Keyless entry

Okay, I've read a lot of posts on how crappy the range is on the keyless entry on the old style keyless entry systems like I have on my 95 Country, mine included. Its only function a few feet way and I've noticed certain angles seem to work a little better. Anyway, I was wonering if there are maybe any parts that go bad in the system or anything like that that would increase the range. I'm planning on upgrading to a security system in the future with keyless entry, but I don't have the money right now and I was hoping that there might be a fix for this. I'm probably asking too much though.
Thanks :D

I had the factory keyless, and it sucks. Go to any auto parts store and for $50 you can get a new keyless system and it's not too much to install. Works from about 400 feet away, instead of 4. I don't know about upgrading any parts on the factory unit. Maybe someone here knows more than me. Highly probable. Hope that helped some.

I just pulled the sensor housing deal down from the headliner and there were some dead bugs in the little sensor window and it was really cloudy. I cleaned everything up and put it back together and it seems to works a little better. I can't wait to get rid of this old crappy line of sight pos keyless entry system.

Was installing the after-market keyless entry difficult or confusing?

Thanks!
