89 MJ Totalled, the Resurrection!

Made more progress today.

Ron came over and pounded out some dents and put some mud on them. He will be back tomorrow to prime the roof and other spots. We got the bed installed today as well.

Thats a mighty fine looking bed you have there.

Yes it is! Thank You!

The whole truck is from the SEC, the truck was sold originally in VA, the roof is from Charlottsville VA, the doors/fenders/hood are from Mt Airy NC and the bed is from Abbeville SC.

Southern born and reborn!

More progress tonight! the pass side fender is on, the fascia is on, all the lights are working and I found the fuel pump and radio issue. Neither were working for an unknown reason. It turns out that the bulkhead connector is loose and has a crack in the casing. I'm going to address that tomorrow night and make it more reliable. I can jiggle it now and the Jeep will shut off with no FP. The stereo does the same thing. Odd that only those two items are affected by the problem.

My son thinks I'm a genius because i can reach down into the engine bay and make a Jeep run or stop just by wiggling a connector LOL!

The truck is driveable now. I got the tags/insurance on it today and will take it to get the VA state safety inspection on Friday and it will be done until my son saves the money for a good paint job. I will post some daylight pictures as soon as I can.

it's a good looking MJ again-- I know you've got enough sweat equity (and money) in it to make sure it's never in the condition it was, but don't be afraid to take her out and enjoy her!!

You're a good dad to help your son with the planning and scheduling of the repairs of his vehicle, and I'm sure your funds are in this thing as well... he's lucky to have someone willing to put forth the effort to help get things back together-- Hell, even I'm excited to see her with a new coat of paint.

wow! Looking good!

(I am an MJ tail light hoarder too)

You guys should find some snow and learn to drive in it before taking it out in the snow again... :jester:

Thanks Shorty! I will say I hve zero dollars in it this time. He has worked to foot the bill 100%, that was the deal. Time wise, I have about 45 hours in this re-build.

Lookin good! No flares?

I should have brought you the 1000 dollars you wanted for it when I had the chance. :( My offer still stands. :)

The flares are on! I need to update the pic. I will in the morning after I get a inspection sticker on it!

I can drive in the snow, unfortunately he can't. I do not think he will try snow wheelin again any time soon haha!

I have said it before but I wanna say it again, this is amazing. You had one beautiful MJ there and you have done an awesome job saving it from the scrap heap. Everytime I see this thread I wanna go out and buy an MJ. Really great work here. Hope you get tons of miles and smiles out of this now.

Thanks! I'm off to get the VA state safety inspection done this morning and then he can drive it until he saves enough money to get it wrapped in paint. His next steps are getting his remote start installed and getting the spray in bedliner put back in.
