Got bored so I tried out my new snap on saw and cut the drivers door hinge
Now the plans
5.5 re coils awaiting for my pick up from sactown area
Custom Long arm/mid arm ruffstuff ends
Adjustable track bar
Custom frame stiffeners
Custom sliders
Custom tranny mount/tcase skid
vacuum lock out/welded front spiders (I have a spare d30 solid axle ready to swap)
C8.25 rear end swap
goal 35 in tires going to settle for 31s 33s for now
Next fall hiem steering
That's the start to get me wheeling this spring (I hope)

Dont weld the front the 260 joints dont last. Ive seen guys break multiple 260 disco shafts on slick rock with a welded front 30 on the stair steps. You can take that line with an open front. Leave it open until you afford a locker

So wait your telling me not to weld it so I won't break? And hold off untell I can afford a locker?? haha wats the difference they both lock the front end and I end up with the same end result? broken 30 no I plan to up grade to bigger u joints I don't plan to keep this d30 it's just a get me by for now axle

Its not the same dude. Have you ever ran a welded front ? Its not quite the same as a locker. Still get some differentiation even with a linchbox. There is no give in a spool. A 30 does not handle a welded front well. A 44 with lockouts , and 760s- not 260s - is a whole different story - way stronger - but still sketchy id say. If you actually wheel it hard id say locker or open. If you dont wheel it hard id say locker or open. If you need a full spool /welded front then go to a different front axle.

At the very least carry a bunch of spare pass side disco shafts and ball joints . The idiot that ran one on slick rock where no one was breaking broke a pass side shaft, kept driving and took out the ball joints and messed up the knuckle. He had a ton of spare shafts but no ball joints. You can 33s open open or locked locked through all kinds of crap. Held up the trail for a long time too. Ive broken center pins and u bolts on a welded 44 with hydro on only 35s on easy trails. It puts constant stress on the entire front end . Just making tight turns in 4x4 could break stuff
