88 XJ Fuel Injector Leak

They should.

There are a couple tests that can be done - in varying degrees of utility.

Simplest is to take an ohmmeter to them, and make sure the coil is good (and is within spec.) I believe resistance four our type is 16 ohms +/- 10% or so.

You can take them to get "flowed" if there's a shop handy that will do it - they'll apply pressure to them, apply current to the coils, and see what goes through in a given time. That's how the #/hour rating comes into play.

Or, you can have them "balanced" - where they're run in a gang, usually with specified pressure and at 80% duty cycle, and they'll not only check their individual flow rates, but also check for variation among the set - this is usually a high-end fuel injection shop doing the testing.

If you just want a "quick and dirty" - take an ohmmeter with you, check the coils, and then install them for a full function check.

the o-rings i got from the dealer matched the o-rings from autozone, all 12 were black same size and looked like the bottom o-rings on the original set off the oem injectors. the same seals that came with the napa&autozone injectors. i think i'll send back the seals and try to squezz the injectors in the fuel rail.

what should i lube the o-rings up with??? The Haynes Manula says Gasoline I'm Thinking Motor oil or Vasoline.

my fuel pressure regulator leaked like a sieve when i bought my 89 xj....guess i'll haveta call or email my brother and ask him to pick up injectors also...i bought the o-rings from auto zone...8 bucks for the kit....but from the sound of it its time to replace in the injectors also...i have 204k on my engine

The last few times I've done this job (I've got four RENIX XJ's!) I just poured some gasoline in a cup and dropped the o-rings in that - that's what they're going to be soaked with anyhow. Do that before you get started.

Take the time to make sure there is no little bits of rubber in the seats for the injectors (both at the rail and in the manifold!) - a small brass or bronze brush will get them off, and having a vacuum cleaner hose held handy to suck the bits of rubber out as you loosen them won't go amiss, either. Last, make sure there are no "burrs" on the entry to any of the seats - there shouldn't be.

Do all this while the o-rings are soaking, and by the time you stick them on the injectors, they will be nice and pliable, and go in easily. Hasn't failed me yet!

me and my brother have now done 2 sets of renix injectors, replaced them with the 19#/hr five-o motorsports ones... worked fine, just apply some vasoline around both ends and in they slide.

the jeep lives; weird sound now during acceleration. if i rev the engine in park the exhaust snaps once or twice and around the cat. it's louder and not in a good mellow way any more.
It sounds during acceleration at first as if like a dirt bike. could there be faulty injectors causing this? i dont know how to really describe the sound. it is like a rattle; nothing loose under the hood, and i even tightened a loose exhaust manifold bolt.
