'87 MJ

I like it, Although I would probably want to run it flush, and probably cut the quarter panel to help get that big SOB under there. If I ran it flush, would I be able to get the tail gate down? Thats one thing I do want..... PM me with any pictures you can. I think i might build something similar. Thanks!

I beleive that is what we're going to do (double flare) The proportioning valve we're just going to plug off. Do you have any pics of the bumper you made. Right now all i'm going to do for a (makeshift bumper) is use a stock CJ7 front bumper, Use the factory mounts and weld a place to put a d ring shackle on it. But I would like to see some pics of this bumper you made! I'll have to look at the muffler and tailpipe when we come down, I might have to take it off your hands.

When are you coming down?

I'm not quit sure when dad wants to make the trip. Like I said we have to sell the Wrangler first. Supposed to meet a guy later today and hopefully it'll be gone. I did a bad thing last night though... I started the Jeep and left it in neutral. (no e-brake) Went inside to get a jacket and the SOB rolled down the driveway, hit a tree, and broke a mainleaf.:gonnablow Called up a buddy and got a set of stock leaf springs from him for 20 bucks. (These springs came off a 95 wrangler, huge arch.. i'm wondering if its going to lift the a$s end up.) I'm working on it right now. As soon as we get the Wrangler out of here... I'll have money and we'll plan on coming down. We also have to go up and see John (lesslimited) and pick up a front axle. (I volunteered to help swap in his new axle) I'm hoping next week we can, since its my Spring break. Although, I'm not sure... You'd have to talk to dad about comin down.......

It doesn't matter to me, I plan on being around unless I'm wheeling. I was just wondering if it would be more convenient for you guys to meet me at a wheeling destination if you were planning on attending the runs to Turkey Bay or Redbird.

Hell yah, I'm up for going to Redbird. Isnt there going to be a Redbird run going on here soon? I'm not sure. I'd like to see an MJ in action!

RedBird SRA May 6th.

We will definatly be there! Sold the Wrangler today.. now i'm REALLY itching the get parts for it. Swapped my stock rims from my Wrangler over, looks real sharp. I'll post pics up soon. Havnt really done much to it, just been driving. One thing i'm going to do tommarow is bondo the rust over the rear fender flare. Yes.. bondo. I'm not going to try and weld a new piece in... our welder burns through to easy. I did some body work to my wrangler and it was a pain in the ars!

One question I have : Will bucket seats from an XJ work in the MJ? I dont know if the mounts will actually work or not. Going to the junkyard to see about getting a gauge cluster (Tach, oil pressure etc.) buckets and a center console.

Thanks

yes buckets from an XJ will work but you will sit up a tad higher then the MJ seats. ive been thinkin about swappin my MJ buckets over to either an MJ bench or XJ buckets dont know which yet but probly a bench.

get one with an actual speedo cable and take the speedo cable with you... anything out of a 90 + cherokee wont work for you - you need a cluster out of an 84-89....

If you can't find a console, I have one from an 89. Gray in color. JIM.

Don't you have to swap the mounting brackets from the MJ bench over to the XJ bucket seat frames?

the XJ brackets will work, but you're going to want to mount the MJ brackets to the XJ seats, unless you're short.
Mark, you might want some XJ brackets so you can see over the steering wheel ;)
*runs out of thread*

Went to the Junkyard.. they want 50 bucks for a guage cluster! ouch... dont worry it was the right one. It was out of an 89 cherokee. (XJRanger) you said dont get anything older than a 90. I remembered; thanks! I also priced an 8.8 out there, they wanted 450 bucks. I think i'm going to another junkyard..
Thanks for the imput... I might need to use to XJ brackets... i'm short; I too might need to see over the steering wheel.

I did some working in the gaurage yest. too. Me and a few buddys began doin this and that to the Jeep and there vehicles.... The only thing I got done was Bondo the rear fender, no more rust! and build a bumper. The bumper isnt bad looking; i'm not big on tube bumpers.. but its ok. I had my buddy weld it up because I didnt feel like welding.

Will post pics here after I get rounded up and going.

Thanks!

Ok, so I have some pics..
This first pic is a little vacuum diaphram; I dont know where one hose goes..
I'm pretty sure this is why when I start the Jeep, It idles high.. then acts like it wants to die. but comes out of it and idles decent. Also when I rev it up multiple times.. it comes back down and wants to die.. Does anyone know where this vacuum line goes?

As you can see, the new bumper. Its not bad for a bunch of Dumb White boys making it.. Going to weld in some Tow Hooks to the frame mounts..

Bolt the tow hooks on for safety, please.

Hmmm...it runs bad when its plugged?? Does it wistle and suck when it is open? If so, then it is a leak and should be plugged....hmmm.

As far as the hook, just bolt it. DO NOT WELD IT.

Capice?
