I put this up in modified tech, and was suggested I put it here.

So, well, here it is.

Is there any interest in a K&N FIPK kit for the 87-90 XJ/MJ series with a 6 cyl and the Renix injection?

I need volunteers for development in the So Cal area.

Specifically, you'd have to have a relatively stock XJ or MJ from those years, and be able to get it to K&N's facility in Riverside, CA.

If there is anyone who fits this description, either PM me or email me, and we can work out details.

We need 3 rigs, aside from my own MJ.

Thanks.

Hey mike, replied.

all is explained in the PM. Thanks for interest though.

I figured as much :) Can't wait for it to come out, and see how you-know-who likes his. Hit me up if you ever need anything else.

:flipoff:

OK, here's the line.

It'll be prolly a month or two out before you guys will come into play. What's gonna happen, is I'm gonna give them my truck for a few days and they will try all kinds of diameters and shapes of tubes, as well as filters. Once they've got something that seems promising, we'll be needing you guys.

This is in order of first come, first serve. If they decide they need more samplings, I'll get a hold of more of ya. If an earlier person in the list drops, can't make it, or suddenly grows a stroker motor, we go to the next on the list.

And, the closer to stock the better. stock sized tires, if possible, stock exhaust, no throttle body mods, or nitrous baseplates etc...lol.

Thanks for the responses guys (and gal). Next for me, is to contact them on mon and arrange scheduling. Check back here for more.

UPDATE:

After speaking with the K&N guys, they will be free the first week of may, and penciled us in for that.

Now, I was also told that the lowest mileage (while still being stock) rig would be best for the test.

I've got 91,000 on my 88 MJ, and it's bone stock. Anyone got less?

If'n ya do, they need the first vehicle for at least 3 days, and will provide a rental vehicle for you as long as they need yours.

While I do have enough people...

I just wanted to tell you all that I am expecting a call on monday with scheduling for the first truck.

I talked to him early friday, and should hear by monday.

Just where we are now. Thanks.

while im new in this club im not up on all the tech. talk yet mine is 100% stock with the exception of the front bumper and im 7 miles from downtown riverside pm me for more info if needed

Update:

First victim goes under the knife starting Monday.

I'll let all the rest of you know when (if) we'll be needing you.

I dunno just how many they are gonna want in the end. They said at least 3 rigs, I guess we'll see depending on shop time how many past that.

Also late to the party but I've got a '90 that's stone stock except 30" tires. I've 235's in storage I could swap on if need be. Pm me if that'll help you.
(I'm just a giver.) :)

Good (stock) Wheelin to ya.

Is this still going on? I just picked up an '87 that could use some better lungs.

I'm about 20 minutes away.

Last I'd heard, there was one in the shop for prelims, but they were having issues with the goofy bolts on the TB. I've not called them in a while, and should prolly do so next week. I'll post up what I find.

XJ Armor makes one that is CA approved for the Renix XJ's. I have one on my '88, and it has a CARB number on it. I just passed smog with it last month.

CA legal intake

Well, I was able to find out that the MJ is still there for testing, but no idea at what point in the testing it is.

I've seen other ones too... but I'd really like to ditch all the stock parts.
