about to buy this on sunday for 100.00 it is the 29 spline. The shock mounts have been moved higher to get them out of the way.

What do you guys think good or no good ????????

What problems should i look for???

I wouldnt pay $100 for a welded 8.25, 29 spline or no.

Find an axle that isnt welded and spend the $299 for a real locker.

How are you going to use the axle? I wouldn't mind running a welded dif or a spool on a trail rig, but wouldn't do it for a daily driver.

OK so your saying you would not pay 100.00 for a 8.25 with 4.56 gears just because it has a welded diff .

4.56 gears between 150-200$
extra axle shafts 25-100$ for a pair
A 8.25 axle with the mounts already moved and welded?

What i am planning is to buy it and put my carrier in it and use the 4.56 gears. And i would end up with a extra housing and axle shafts how is that not worth 100.00$???????????????????????????????

i say it depends on the quality of the welds and what your intended use is. if you're DDing it i'd lean against. if it's a trail only beater, i'd probably go for it if you already have a matching front.

just bought a front gear set for 100 new and found this rear end local when he pulled it he did not cut anything so it would be a bolt in with really no hassle

It is my daily rig but i drive about 10 miles a day some times less. .But like i said i have a 8.25 in my rig that i can take the spiders out and put them in this rear end. He only welded the spiders not the carrier so i can change the spiders if needed not really a hard thing to do ....

For the price you cant even buy a gear set and as long as the gears are not chipped, worn,or broken how can you go wrong????

I dont drive my rig like its stolen or miss use it in any way. I have read many write ups on the welded carriers and thought this could save some serious cash an a gear set and some extra axles

when you figure out how to get all 4 welded spiders out simultaneously, please take some pictures, i would like to see how you managed to do that. afterwards, i'll send some of my old calc homework your way and you can show me how to divide by zero.

As long as the spiders or side gears haven't been welded to the carrier you can take the cross pin out and rotate the side gears around and torch them out. I've done it to two different axles.

As for the original post $100 doesn't seem like a bad deal. If the spiders break put a locker in it or you have some spare shafts and buy another one.
