are there any differences in these two transmissions besides one being hydraulically controlled and one being electronically controlled? You see a lot of ZJs with bad transmissions, they used both the 42RE and 42RH. However you do not see that many WJs with bad transmissions, even very high mileage ones. WJ's only used the 42RE not the 42RH.
*given the WJ only used the 42RE for a few years while the ZJ used both for 5 years...so there are a lot more out there to fail.
