is that pushing the boundary's of the D30?
Its best to upgrade to D44 from a waggy or D30 Alloys / chromoly shafts?

Im not hard on my junk but sometimes I "bump it"..

What do you all think?

It should hold up for awhile running to the mall and back
Having sheared ring gear teeth on an open 30 w/33's. I would say its time to look for a big boy axle HP 44 at the minimum...

I ve seen people running 36" swampers on D30's and not have any issues..
figure the weight of a 36" swamper should equal the weight of 37" MTR or BFG...?

I ran my 35s on a 30 forever. Tho, it had a truss, solid cover and alloy shafts.

Busted a ring gear once and sheared an outer shaft once (The alloy ones).

im running 35s now.. of course i havent had a chance to get on it and BUMP IT!!!!

ran alloys and a front cover without a truss on HEAVY beadlocks and 35's and ran it hard, never broke anything other than unit bearings. Stock shafts busted a few times and stock ujoints blew up.

see... thats stupid crap i wouldnt do..

dads tj runs 37" krawlers on a dana 30... its got cryoed 4.88s arb stock shafts ground out for full circle clips and spicer joints with a truss and solid cover..... spit some teeth a few times so hes on to try some nitro gears. never broke a stock shaft only the cryoed ring gear.

oh and it took 3 rides out before it finally broke.

i run a non trussed d30 with 4.56s and a lockrite with stock shafts on 35" krawlers and HEAVY beadlocks.... run that crapp all day no problem.

IMHO 4.56s are THE deepest gear id go.

this video is a stock d30 4.56s lockrite on 36s and beadlocks.

and yes those are 3rd gear launches!!!

i just a got a good deal on those 4:88s ($200 for both sets) so i used them but yeah 4:56 would have been better

What's the reason for 37s?

Honestly I wouldn't. The ring gear just wont hold up to it long. You gotta think, swampers are bias ply nylon belted (except for the sx & bogger) so they actually don't really weigh any more than a radial.

My honest opinion is that 35's are the safe limit if you are doing anything other than driving at the mall.

yeah.point taken.. 35's are the limit
plus who has money for 37s these days anyway??

thanks all

I dont have any Falken Tire money!

i couldnt afford my 35's good thing they were free.......37's how about 42's im broke lol

Drive with your head and not your foot and it can last on 37's until you put something else under the front. I ran 37's for a couple years and for the last year on 39" iroks running on the con, fordyce and a week at the hammers earlier this year running jack, sledge, chocolate thunder and resolution a couple times each on the 39's breaking one shaft while there. Mines trussed, sleeved, locked, cro'd gears with stock shafts as a weak point. Soon as i get the parts together im putting something else under the front of mine. Just be easy on the pedal, keep the tires from undercuts, wheel speed down, choose good lines and it can live.
