31" tires on 16" rims? What are you running?

Im having a hard time finding a decent selection in 16". Looking for something that would be a 31' 10.5 or as close to it as I can get. I just did a rustys 3" lift with spring packs.

Found some Kumhos I love but they are 31.9. Is that a reach on a 3" lift?

You're looking for either a 245/75R16 (30.5") or 255/75R16 (31.1"). Good luck with finding a 'real' 31" in a 16" rim; even with that now being a fairly normal rim size, there don't seem to be too many choices out there.

If it helps, take a look at the miata.net tyre size calculator; it's pretty handy for comparing metric sizes to actual diameter.

Another metric size is 265/70R16 (30.7x10.4). Searches for off-road tires at tirerack.com and discounttire.com returned only returned all-terrain tires (e.g. BFG All/Terrain, Goodyear Silent Armor). All the other options were street-oriented tires.

And from my experience, 245/75R16 has the most options available including mud-terrains.

oh damn the grey ICONS are sweet! weren't they only available on 2000 Classics?

And liberty. These came off a liberty. I did a test fit while doing the lift. Fit like a glove. For 100 bucks I just bought em without fitting them first. I figured if anything I could make some money if they didnt fit.

Don't know yet - just got the lift done last weekend, but I don't think they'll rub. They're only about 30.5" tall and the wheels are 5" BS. I'll probably go with a bigger tire next time, but I bought these wheels/tires as a set for cheap so I'll run them until they wear out.

I have 245/75/16 Bridgestone ATs on Icons, and they rub the LCAs near full lock. 2", stock LCAs. It's not bad though. I figure I will replace them with WJ or aftermarket arms at some point.

$100?! If you hate 'em, let me know. :)

I have a faded dark green 2 tone XJ with charcoal on the bottom trim. Gona look better than the ones I have at any rate. Couldnt pass em up at the price I gave.

Before the lift. I hate these wheels.

I looked at those in the tire store today. I think you just sold me on em. I also saw some Kumhos I liked but they dont come in the size I need.
I'm sold on them for life. Fantastic tires through and through... You won't be disappointed unless you beat the piss out of them on rocks day in and day out (not a dedicated rock tire - you might see some chunking).

How's the tread life on these? When I got my Moabs they had the factory Goodyear Wranglers on them with a grand total of 3 miles' usage; by 10,000 they were somewhere between two-thirds and three-quarters of the way through their life.

I realise these aren't the same, but my BFG T/A KOs are still chugging along with close to 50,000 on them, and I'd like to keep that sort of life if I make a change.

Stopped by discount tire on the way to the office and found these

Falken Rocky Mountain

50K tread warranty. 154 bucks each.
