Don't let them take all your money !!!

For $30 bucks, we will show you how to show your Jeeeps who is boss.

Stop being bossed around by your Jeeps.

THE most tangible things :NAXJA: has provided to the XJ/MJ community are the events! From the first Forum Fest in Colorado that got things started, :NAXJA: Members have been keeping FUN things going on all across the land.

Maintaining membership in, and donating to organizations with common goals and a larger footprint uses the largest share of Member's dues. Over 50% of our dues and donations from event proceeds go towards supporting allied land-use causes.

Our club's website has always been the premier internet resource for XJ/MJ owners to interact and share information. It isn't 'free,' but it isn't as huge a burden as it was in our early years. Each person who joins up eases that burden just a little more.

:NAXJA:.org takes effort by just a few motivated volunteer folks to keep things happening all around. In order for us to prosper as a club, we need good Members to join, renew, participate, help out, lead, follow, etc...

Thanks for contributing in whatever way you can!

Never thought I will agree with a New Yorker, but prb24 made a very good point (using woody's post). You like off roading? If so, do you support any organizations that work towards keeping the roads open? Did you benefit from the resources on this site? $30 worth? Do you think you will ever benefit from the knowledge/resources of the site?? I know I got my membership fee paid back to me time and time again by the money I have saved thanks to the information I got from the forums.

He likes boating. Maybe he likes someone always going boating with him, using the gas, the time and the wear on the boat and never offering up a dime to help maintain the boat, fuel it, or even buy lunch.

Funny there are kids on the board that are 17 and as soon as they turn 18 they plan on paying and joining.

Even more so if 50% of the money goes to keeping our public lands open, you may be retired and dont really care what land is going to be open in 20-30 years.

We do.

So next time you feel like going on a trail, why dont you think about how much of that trail is going to be there after the sierra club or some greenies get it closed because we couldnt fight it.

Ever take your grandkids wheeling or anything like that? Think they want some open land areas when they grow up? Even for their kids?

Oh my hell, he actually said something that made sense, and was intelligent..

But I do agree, I am a paying member of several 4X4 clubs, but I never wheel with them(except the folks from NAXJA). but I try to help and I know the money is going for causes that I believe in,,like keeping public lands open..

Is that the reason to support offroad?? I am an AMA member, District 37 and our local 4 wheel club. I couldn't find where the $30 goes, still don't. The forum is available to everyone, right? I am a long time part of earlycj5.com as I have a 69 CJ that I use off road. Just got an XJ (free) that I will use as a DD when the weather is bad (not often in So Cal). When the weather is good I ride my BMW RT motorcycle.
Not being difficult just want to spend my money wisely. Please direct me to a discription of "club" benefits and where the money goes.

I used to look at EarlyCJ5 - that board is available to everyone - where does that $$$ go to help you in any tangeable way more than this one?

The $30 goes towards UFDA membership as well as Blue Ribbon Coelition and a few other things. About 4 months ago, NAXJA donated 3000 or some huge number of $$$ to Huricane relief - and part of membership dues went to that.

Make it out to an event, then meet some people, put names to faces, enjoy their company, then you will see what the membership really does for you - allows you more forums to BS with your new friends in :D

If you don't want to spend the $30 then don't spend it and stop making it sound like you're doing us a favour should you end up paying the membership.
Yes forums are free to everyoen to use, but as mentioned they are not FREE to maintain: cost of equipment, hosting, software, it all adds up. So if you're using something it's polite to contribute to the cost involved (the boating story posted above was great :D)
Why did you sign up for the forums? Is it not for technical info? Did the following threads not help you out?

You have asked a lot of technical questions and they were answered. Noone has bugged you to pay for membership when they did so nor for a cut of the money you have saved by turning to NAXJA. But since you're asking the question about $30 let me ask you this: how much money have you saved thanks to NAXJA? Is it at least $30? I bet it's a lot more. NSS is an arm an a leg. A single visit to a shop for them to look at things ussually ranges from $50 to $100 (the upper limit is a dealership diagnostic: varies slightly depending on location probably). And this is all in the short time you've been a forum user. At the rate you'er going NAXJA will save you a LOT of money, so is giving back $30 to a community that big of a deal? Do you still need justification for it?
I guess it all comes down to it like so: if you feel you've benefited from NAXJA consider donating the $30 to support a place which offers tech support and supports off roading.
If you don't wanna do it, then don't do it, but don't look for justification that you're not going to do it cause you would not get your $30 from it.

Gosh, I didn't mean to cause a big problem. I was always willing to join, my question was why and where does the money go? I think those are worthwhile questions. Yes I appreciate that the forum is here, yes I have asked questions and gotten good answers. (I just rebuilt my NSS from forum helps and saved $300). I searched for the area to ask a question of the moderators so as not to cause a problem. I am an old guy who is pretty new to this forum stuff and I've never seen a 2 tiered membership before. I was referred to this forum by earlycj5 folks. One of the things I don't like .
about this type of communication is you can't see how I'm asking.
I don't need any outings as I spend a great deal of time in Baja and in the desert in a support role with factory race teams.
I'm not the enemy, just new here asking a question. A suggestion I might make would be to have a stickey explaining the membership thing, if it is there and I missed it I'm sorry. gregg

I think that, initially, most folks do not see the point to paying for something the is essential free. Sooner, or later you realize that this place is a value source of technical information, and entertainment().

A stickey cannot fully convey the benefits of financial contribution...only time(, and guilt) can do that. :D

the sticker is nice

really though try finding all the tech you can find here for free, i paid for knowledge more than anything, and it was well worth it instead of forking out probabally thousands to someone to fix things i do them my self for a small fraction of what it would cost to take somewhere and NAXJA has given me the confidence and the writeups to do so without problems thats what i paid for

and when your name is red you get lotsa :kissyou: from other members
