Re: 242 to a 231 swap...

well my np 242 is getting stuck in 4wd and takes like 30 mins to get it out of 4wd. plus i have descently new 231 just waiting to be put in plus i have an AA SYE and a TW DRIVESHAFT coming soon.

I think your thread title is backwords. Sounds like you mean 242 to 231 swap.

Ok, this makes more sense. Carry on.

it can't be done. your best bet is to give me your xj with 242 in it for free and then you can buy another one with a 231. that's the best and easiest way :)

haha thats funny!! no way man ive got a sye and new rear driveshaft coming in the mail soon. so ill have an almost new transfer case with a new sye and rear driveshaft. im pretty pumped. but still tryin to figure things out!

did you look in the oem and mod tech forum? i saw a swap in there a while ago. 242's rock =]
and be careful mine started getting stuck a few 100 miles before it blew.

It should just be the shifter bezel but make sure there the same spline. I believe theres 21 and 23 splines and the spline change in 91 when they switched to the H.O. make sure its a jeep t-case there are other bolt pattern np231's out there.
