2025 Reno Fest picture thread / trip reports

Post your trip photos and video links here.

And.... My odometer reading when we got back to Joe's was......

352.2
(I predicted the trip would be 350 miles!)
Just think how much closer you'd be if you didn't make that morning run across the micro playa or the little side trips!

Based on this picture, I think Christoff should nickname his jeep Chet (from Cars)

Where was this picture taken? I dont remember seeing it.

Looks like a great time. About how much windshield time was there per day to go 350 miles?
There was a lot of driving for sure but we had time to do everything we wanted to do. Never had to set up camp after dark, and the earliest we departed in the morning was 8 am. Keep in mind, that 350 miles included plenty of pavement (especially on the way home) and some easy dirt roads and miles of flying across the playa.

Since my daughter was unable to make this trip, we returned to the area last weekend for a family camping trip. We camped at the Soldier Meadows campground and the hot springs were great. We got lucky and our trip fell during a cold-front so daytime temps were 65 to 75 instead of 90 to 100 this time of year. We drove into High Rock Canyon just to Post Office cave and because we weren't in a rush I was able to explore and found some more really cool stuff. I wish we could have spent more time in the canyon during the NAXJA trip, but now I have some more secret cool stuff to show for the next trip!

On a side note, there was an older XJ broke down and left in the middle of the trail at Fly Canyon. It's been there a few days at least and people are driving around it. Thankfully nobody is trashing or looting it. Hood is up (likely engine trouble) but windows are down (might not work), key is in the ignition. There is junk inside the jeep, and it is clearly not taken care of. I'm hoping whoever owns it is not a NAXJA member - if they are, they should know better because this jeep should not be out there. Oregon plates. Clearly a nightmare waiting to happen, which is what I was preaching about in our planning thread about reliability.

While this isn't what caused the break down, all wheels and tires are mis-matched. One 15", two 16", and one 17" wheel. Cheapo random street tires, different brands and sizes.
And this one on passenger rear was running just 3 lug nuts due to broken studs.

Hopefully it can get recovered but my fear is the owner/driver doesn't care enough because the jeep clearly isn't worth much. Anywhere else it would be rolled down into a canyon or set on fire. Hope that doesn't happen. I'm wondering if they were alone, because there was plenty of room to push it to the side just off-trail, but they left it right where it stopped....
