They keep making them uglier!

Boy that rear end looks like a Toyota unit...................

Nothing a torch & a D44 can't fix....

What's the rear axle? That's a drop-out 3rd member axle.

I don't know......but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a toyota axle.....they still make the 90s 4 runners over there so the toy axle might be a possibility if they got old tooling from toyota or use them for other BAW vehicles.

How'd I miss *THIS*? the first time? That's a 5spd!

And its a 6 lug its gotta be Toyota.................:dunno:

They are only offered with 5speeds. no automatic option.

There are no words to describe how stupid that is........:shiver:

Ah but you found a smiley that did it!

I think its highly likely it is a toy axle. Front IFS is probably derived from a toyota too.

Why does every Chinese company have to be like AMC! Cobbled together between several vehicle brands!

Cheap way to make vehicles, let other companies do the R&D and then just use all their tooling, modify it a little if you need to, and then keep on making vehicles.

When you have most or all of your tooling paid off it must be much cheaper to make the vehicle.

I mean, if they can sell a new 2wd S12 cherokee for $12,500.....how much does it cost them to make it?

I also find it interesting that they never changed the hatch or door latch/striker designs. Still using pre '97 stuff.

Yup, the doors are 97- doors too, sure they modded them to use one piece windows, but if you look at the metal structure they didn't use the 97+ stuff.

Those doors would bolt on to a 96- jeep.

you'll also notice the door panels have the door handle in the same place as the 96- doors. I'm betting the metal structure under the door panel is like that of a 96- door, and not the 97+

the seats are also the 80s style of rocker/tilt seats.

Essentially when the XJ got tooled up back in 84 for chinese production it was never updated over the years like the US production was.

The seat belts are another example, they still use the old style latches on all the belts.

I would rock one of those!!! SAS would be super easy!!! I want!

The hatch is also pre 96 style.

There has been 1,496 threads on here about people wanting new cherokees and everybody is slamming on this thing.

It's 2012, Duh it's going to be IFS.

By the way what is BAW?
