You know, considering the fact that for a change I didn't manage to get out of the park without breaking anything, I still had a great time. Maybe I'm starting to get used to the notion that sometimes despite all you can do, stuff happens.

Anyhoo, I made it home fine, and spent Sunday morning chasing down a new tailpipe and installing it - $18 was a heckuva lot easier than fighting with the mangled one. Interestingly, doing that caused me to figure out why I was having problems with the muffler rubbing on the rear driveshaft - it was because the loose nut behind the wheel (me), put the silly thing on upside down. Apparently, even though I looked at the stock one that I removed after Rocktoberfest (which properly had the offset exit port closer to the outside of the vehicle than the center), I managed to get it the other way 'round. Needless to say, that explains not only the rubbing but also all the trouble I had getting the doggone thing to fit together.

By the time I got that fixed, it was raining, so I ended up deferring the fuel tank to the shop (esp. with snow in the forecast for next weekend). As it turns out, I did manage to cause the tank to leak, so in addition to needing a new tire I'm having a shiny new tank installed today. Still, any trail run you can drive away from is a good one and I did drive away from it.

I'll try and get my pics posted up tonight.
