Looks like saturday will be the warmest day of the week up there, in the 40's, so I think it's on for some serious wheeling this weekend!!! Can't wait to get out, this will be my first run of 2010 hope it's a good one. Gonna be trying out a nice new set of 35" Trxus MT's. It looks like I'll be bringing a friend of mine to share the spotting, map reading and communications duties so I can focus on the trail ahead, sweet. If you guys don't have CB's I would say get one it's really nice to be able to hear what's going on and where we're headed next. Just my .02.
x2. i don't want to wheel in a group of more than five or six, regardless of the weather. it's just too much. it looks like we have enough experienced people to find a few guides. i'll lead a group if need be.
Well my so-called friend bailed on me, nothing worse than people giving you the "I thought you'd never ask. Sure man I'll definitely be there, you can count me in for sure" Only to be followed up with "Well I thought about it and decided I'm gunna do something else, sorry"
Regardless I'll see you all saturday morning, just got done swapping in my alloy shafts & 35's and should have a full CO2 tank ready to pick up in the morning. Can't wait either.

Nice, I had a friend who I confirmed with the night before and we were supposed to meet at wawa at 5:45, 6 o'clock he still wasnt there, I called 100 times and he never showed. So I left, he just got tooo drunk the night before & bailed. Some people and their priorites.
well I'm definitely going Saturday, a little nervous first time on a real trail and not just fire-lanes in the pine barons. don't really know what I should have with me for this. I'm going to have a friend riding with me.
excited but a little nervous. should be fun

not worried about the ride that much, shit can always be replaced and fixed, as long as i can get it home. more worried about not being prepared, and having to rely on others for shit I don't have that I more than likely should
most of us are over prepared and everyone will want to help out if there is a problem. I was just like you my first time but once you get out there and get to know everyone you will be fine.
tow points : 2 hooks in the front and a 3/4 D ring on the trailer hitch
Spare: yes 33in baja claw mounted on matching rims
strap: no , but i do have 100ft of 2in nylon rope with spliced in eyes hope that will do
sounds good. tow points are a must but also smart wheeling and listing to your spotter are also important. The more you wheel the more prepared you go out each time i have two bins of tools and random jeep stuff along with a floor jack and death jack i take with me and a cooler and just heads up no booze on the trail. but can't wait leaving tomorrow rig is done and ready this is going to be a sick ride
That's a good start and should get you through fine. I would get a real tow strap though. The rope may work but it's kind of a pain. I usually carry a full set of spare shafts w/hubs, 30'x2" tow strap, tree saver strap, hi lift jack, full size spare tire, tool box, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, CO2 tank and some times I carry extra fluids if I can fit them. If you still have a stock tie rod and diff covers they will be the first things to get ruined so I would look into upgrading them if you can afford it. Rausch is predominately all about rockcrawling so getting stuck happens a lot to all of us and the harder the trails the more trouble you can get into. My favorite rule has always been wheel safe and have a good time doing it.
