IMO dual stage keeps up better with air demand,I uase a dual 80 gallon with no issues.Unless you got the $ to go rotory screw just my 2 cents

First if in fact it is the fan on the driver side(it will be the electric fan)Yes it will stay on for a bit when you turn the key off.Its supposed to.The issue with no power randomly when it happens check battery for voltage with a good OHM meter I had a prob with an issue very simalar cleaned...
