I just caught it on the tv... and i have no idea what to think of it.

Personally, I think its instilling fear into the public. Its very graphic and definitely hits home and makes you think, maybe TOO MUCH?

I know its important to be ready for disaster, but do we need to scare the shit out of everyone? Especially with all this H1N1 crap, 2012 movie coming out... just seems a little to..... intense.
 
Not my chapter but, I think more people need to be ready for crap when it does hit the fan. It's just like bringing spare parts and a tool box out on the trail. Your being prepared for something bad if it does happen.
 
I understand the point of them wanting people to be prepared for disaster, but i dont understand them having to scare the hell out of everyone. thats why we have movies like 2012, and a bunch of loonies running around saying the world is going to end.

what im saying is, it only makes people worry, makes them more cautious.

personally, i think most of this world already has a stick up their ass, we dont need to give them anything more to worry about.
 
Kinda reminds me of the Cold War fear stuff... kids doin bomb drills in school, people building bomb shelters in their backyard and whatnot, "just in case"
 
people should worry, and then they should be prepared. If you're prepared, you worry a lot less. You (and everyone else) should have a "GOOD" bag ("Get Out Of Dodge"), that you can grab, throw in the jeep with the family, and be good for 48 hours if need be. I have a rubbermaid box with a couple days of food, fire sources, first aid, water and shelter ready to roll.

I am actually shocked that a PSA as relevant as that came out of the federal government... someone is going to lose their job, no doubt.;)

Its designed to be intense,and IT should scare you,Ive been on Top of the contenental divide in october(Elk Huntin) and watched the weather go from a nice 30 dgrees to a blizzard and 32 below,and got trapped on top of the Mountain(up near lake city)Stayed the night on the mountain at sub zero weather I only had what is in my pack. BE PREPARED and READY FOR ANYTHING thats the point,Panick mode is what Kills 99% of people. PS Ive also had to walk out with a compass because the snow was so bad you couldnt see.
 
Ya everyone carries their spare parts. But how ready are you in your rig?
I've got several MRE's some candy some water extra clothes lighters and candles in the mix with all my spare parts and tools. Partly due to my never ready enough mindset (and my bad habbit of sparatic trips) I'm always ready to dissapear ,or, be stranded for a few days.
Look at how many troops are going AWOL now. Mix that with your macgyver tweakers that know where to find everything in their territory and you have a mixture for something really bad to happen. Could you live on the streets with nothing? Here's a test. Take a fresh clean and nice dollar bill. Crumple it, spit on it, pour some soda on it and toss it in the dumpster. Knowing it's right there. Would you grab that buck? If not. Then mentally I don't think you could do what would be neccessary to survive if you were left with nothng but yourself......

But that's just my opinion

it's a stupid test but really gives an idea as to what most people would laugh at and say 'it's just a buck'

I'd find every dollar and can or bottle in that darn dumpster if I had to

Yeah, a shit ton is a bit excessive except when stocking your bunker at the end of the tunnel running from your basement........

Stick with something closer to a crap load and that should suffice. :thumbup:
