Can anyone help me out with this? (I'm cheap.)

Just got the wife a 95 zj 5.2 full time. Seems her 87 xj wasent up to pulling the popup camper and we are overheating the trans we got to replace the one we burned up heading to ga. memorial day weekend.

We want to use her 31" truxus on the zj. I have a friend that put a 2" BB on his and drives around on 31"s but I doubt it will ever go off road. Looks great but will it rub? My wife loves to trail ride and I know she'll be testing it off road. But I gotta be cheap. Any one with cheap zj links or info please let me know. PS: did you know that thing will hit 100 at 3k in overdrive?

thanks, been there, hard to find cheap tech on zj's. Guess I need to keep searching. It looks like people on the nagca site are running 2-4.5" lift for 31's. I know what works on xj's. Zj is kind of a new animal for me.

Do it cheap or do it right :D Springs and shocks or get out the sawzall. You could get lucky and find someone going from 4" to 8" too :D

found a skyjacker kit for $450 for 3". Any negative comments on that kit? It should let her clear the 31's and if there is a problem I could add 1" spacer. Sound good?

Only complaints I've heard about skyjackers is the hardness of the shocks but thats been in TJ's.

my buddy has 31 10.50 Maxxis Buckshots on his wifes 97 ZJ I6 and it doesnt rub with the stock canyons. But its only a road queen. I know you can run 30s and not rub.

3" lift and 31's will work fine.

Yeah but truxus tires are acutally 31 inches tall compared to others like the bfg with is about an inch shorter.

I had to do a double take on the truxus when they arrived. Giant 31's. 4.5" lift on the wifes xj and she can still get a little contact..

I think your problem is bump stops, not lift. You can run 30s (and Ed Stevens says 31s) on a stock XJ with NO lift. The ZJ has larger wheel wells and comes with larger tires stock, so you should be able to run larger tires on a stock ZJ.

31s should fit, but lifting doesn't change how far the wheels-tires will stuff unless you extend the bump stops. This is the same as for the XJ.
