Hey guys. I did a bit of searching did not get a for sure answer. I have a 95 Grand Cherokee. I want to swap a vacuum disconnect front axle out of an XJ into it for gas mileage. Will it bolt in? Will the stock track bar work? I understand that I can use my outer knuckles and brakes on the old axle. Do I need to modify anything?
Thanks for the help.

it should bolt in, but ZJ is low pinion instead of high pinion, also check close, ZJs did come with 373 gearing, close to 355, but will make things break if it isnt the same.

didnt some come with a cv front shaft (tcase to front axle) and a different yoke? Also you will have a castor adjustment on the lower axle mounts too

I dont think you will see any milage improvements!

If you have a 95 with 249, You do NOT want to disconnect that front axle from the transfercase..

Or your rig will roll away everytime you put it in park..

You wont see a milage difference with a vac disconnect axle.... thats why Jeep did away with them to begin with. And like said, if you have a full time transfer case, you should not put in a vac disco axle.... bad things can happen. If you cant deal with your gas milage, you need another car. Just find a little beater compact, plate it with minumum insurance requirements, and drive it for milage, and drive your jeep every once in awhile. It would probably be cheaper for you that way in the long run.... as long as you dont have too many points on your liscence!
