In preparation for an upcoming trip... I want to add these vents. I already have them and I'm ready to start install.

The ones I have are already black but rough so they will need painting. In this post http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=991767
The installer went with black on his white XJ... mine is white too. I have a spray can of the Jeep white made at the paint store to match factory color and it's a good match.

Do you all think I should keep black or go with white???

I say black- the contrast will make them stand out more.

Unless of course if you are going with the factory look...

Personally, I'm all about the not-so-factory look...

X2 Roger. I think the contrast may look better. If not can always take them off and repaint them.

Dozer, I have that same scoop. I got it from my buddy Rich. Our chapter prez(RMS692) Maybe I will put it on tomorrow....

I just used a 4 inch hole saw and used a trailer light grommet under the scoop. Most expensive part of that setup was the holesaw...:dunce:

The grommet was only 98 cents, but I had to order three... Got two more- you can have one if you want it!

I've never noticed any change at the gauge, but if you put your hand at the back of the scoop at idle, you can feel heat "pushing" out. Also the hood itself was cooler to the touch when lifting it, so I can imagine the benefit to all my plastics and rubber underneath. Figure with the exhaust manifold and intake manifold in that area, I didn't really need to do any "vacuum" testing to place it- just a different take on venting.

Plus, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel came over one day and told me it would make me stoopid fast!!:greensmok
