Your Jeep progress?

Or ball joint press....works like a champ. Before I got the ball joint/u-joint press, I made a bushing tool out of a short piece of 2.5" exhaust tubing with a big washer welded on one end. Use a very long threaded bolt or a piece of all thread, with an assortment of washers and a couple of nuts. Tighten the nut and pull the bushing into the tool, then reverse it and pull the new bushing in. I've changed an UCA bushing by myself in a total of 20 minutes, start to finish with that home made tool.

I sure hope all you guys with major projects still going aren't going to be like a bunch of guys from a state that I won't mention who never got finished and didn't make it to Best of the West this year. :) You guys better do a good job of prioritizing and stick to the stuff that absolutely has to get done.....leave the could live without and totally optional stuff till the end.

Have fun, :D

I have to install a huge head unit and big ass subs, I need to install a brush guard, off road lights, a back-cb unit, disc brake shields, install a jacobs ignition, and removeable mudflaps.

I also have to figure out whats causeing my death wobble and driveline vibration.

if I have time (thanks for the tip goat!) I will finish my suspension, skidplates, axles and steering.

Beezil,

What size subs and how many watts pushin' 'em?

I'll bring the Jay-Z

Big Pimpin'...big pimpin'... bump, bump, bump

Well, I got my bumpers and tow points all together and painted and I put a perm. CB antenna on. Today at work, I fabed up a mount for the new electric fan that came from Summit yesterday, (nothing better than seeing a cardboard box on the frount steps when I come home form work! :D ) Hopefully, all my measurements will be right and the fan and bracket will drop right in tonight. I want to get new tires before we head out but I don't think Mr. pocketbook will allow that.

On that note things that will not get done for this trip:

New paint job
Much needed body work
Fancy PUV granphics
Custom aluminum roof rack
Auxilliary lighting

Finish high steer
rear locker
fabrticate shock brackets
fabricate rock gaurds

install interior
wire up driver side power window

worry about rear driveshaft..possibly lengthen

do we need mud flaps out there??

You're usually in pretty good shape with a full body vehicle. The local officers are usually pretty decent, but I've heard of some problems, usually from buggy owners/drivers.....

Well, got the elec. fan in and the studs on the water pump just hit the fan under torque. So tomarow, I will be removing the studs and replacing then with bolts, I thought there was enough room for engine flex. Sure did a number on my nicely painted fan!

damn i know i'll jinx myself if i say its done.. the big stuff is done.. lots of peripherals left though... but i'm driving it again!!! i just need to give it the highway test to see if i really don't need that SYE after all.... a t/case drop and 2 degree shims on the axle seemed to do the trick.... tons less vibes than stock height... still havent gotten in a good highway blast to really test it though... thats tommorow..

Well... I'm getting closer as well :) I finally got that hookup for the trailer tested (had to replace a busted 7 plug receptacle that I need for the electrical brakes for my temp residence while @ Moab).
Finally got all my oils changed (although looking at my rear diff oil, my tracloc is dying about 4 months too early! :( )

Now I gotta remember the rest of the list and slowly work on it..
