So a month and a half ago I posted a thread "Added a new Jeep to the family" and some probably glanced at it right, for those that didn't we traded in the wife's FORD Sport Trac for 08 Commander.
Well Last Sunday the 15th my wife gets off work goes to the gas station to get gas, comes home parks the Commander in the garage and hops in my XJ to race off to meet Dutch to go to Illinois Gulch. Everything seems normal.................
Monday she has a training to attend to and I took the day off to watch our boy. Not five minutes after she walked out the door she comes back in to say; "Honey something is wrong the Jeep, it won't move!"
Sure as poop I go to the garage and the Commander is running, I get in and put the thing in reverse and I do not feel the tranny engage. Looked at the instrument panel and it shows in reverse. Play around little going into different gears, shutting off, starting back up, etc. Still no engagement of the tranny. So the wife is now getting close to be late so I fire up the XJ and take her to class. Come back and play with it a little still no worky. Get inside call the dealer, and they give me Chrysler's warranty service line to call instead. So I call and tell them the story and they schedule it to be picked up and say it will go to the closest dealer which just happens to be the place we bought it from. Tow truck shows up 30 minutes later and the Commander will go into neutral luckily so we pushed it out of the garage and he loads it up on the flatbed.
The service dept calls me a couple hours later and tells me they are really busy but hope to find out what happened and call me before end of the day.
So waited around and finally end of the day I get a call and they tell me the tranny is toast and that they contacted Chrysler who says they just want the whole thing replace and it will take 5-7 days. I demanded they get us a rental or loaner to which they complied. (Better) Talked to the service dept on Friday and they have the new tranny and it will be done by Monday. I asked if they specifically found out what happened and they told me the main shaft was all screwed up and they clutch packs froze.....................I am not a tranny guy but sounds logical?
So 1 1/2 months and only 1400 miles the tranny is toast? I asked the wife if she was neutral dropping it and when she says; "Whats that?" I realise it was just our bad luck creeping out.
So do not buy JEEP they are horrible! Their product breaks right away and then they make you wait for a week to get it fixed/replaced and their customer services makes you call all these different people making you hang on the phone and then to kick you while you are down, gives a KIA Rio as a rental car! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM JEEP THEY MAKE CRAPPY PRODUCT! ........sorry could not resist the last paragraph!
