XJ Tire Carrier Hitch Bumper...Strongest Option?

I'm trying to setup an XJ with a tow hitch receiver, capable of hauling a 3,000-4,000 car trailer (car included). Curt Mfg. has a nice tubular hitch with a Class IV tow capacity, but can I expect the same from a 2" hitch receiver, integrated in a fabricated bumper?

I've got my eye on the BPI Fab rear bumper with tire carrier...so far as I can tell, it's the only solution that has a integrated 2" receiver, tire carrier and jack carrier.

I called BPI, to find out that their bumper mounts to the factory tow hitch mount points. I can only assume it'll be strong enough, given there isn't a recommended tow capacity with this bumper.

Does anybody have any experience or recommendations with regards to integral bumper tow hitches?

I know that JCR's tire carrier bumper is rated to tow the 5000lb. rating the XJ has from the factory!

Yep, just checked out JCR's website...nice stuff. Didn't see a posted tow capacity though.

Ours will tow the full factory tow rating of your jeep. No "rating" because you can't exactly get a "class" rating from the DOT as an aftermarket bumper manufacturer.

that's an answer I can live with...i think there's a stage 3 bumper in my XJ's future. thanks!

If you do plan to do alot of towing, we recommend you use a factory receiver. When you have alot of lift, you will need a huge drop hitch, which in turn makes for a less then desirable tow! If you have a smaller or moderate lift, then you can get away with a hitch mounted in the bumper and a mid range drop hitch.

I wouldn't say a lot of towing...just a few times a month, until I can afford something diesel and commercial. I don't have the bucks for a lift just yet...at least not the way I want to do it, but am planning a modest 4+"
