XJ on 40's

So, I'm in the middle of swapping tons under my rig and going 40's. Looking for input on the perfect wheelbase. Thanks!

I was going to stretch the front 2" but I was thinking that won't be enough. Wanted to flip my rear springs but under a time crunch for Harlan, and won't have time for a traction bar.

I'd run a traction bar regardless of flipping springs, big tires and xj leafs don't mix well without one. And unless you go full hydro up frt 1.5" stretch is about all you can do

It is all a wash. I'm at 114.5" and I am happy with it.
I wheel with guys on similar setups ranging between 104-120". Depending on the obstacle some wheelbases are better than others. There really is no "perfect" wheelbase IMO.

This.
108 sounds decent, same breakover angle as my setup if you're running 40's, more or less.

I couldn't even tell you what mine is. I pushed the front forward like 2" and the back maybe 4"? Its works and I dont have any complaints. Once I 4 link the rear I might push it back another inch or so, more so to fit the tires into tube work.

i agree. im at 115" and think its perfect, but there are different ideal wheelbases depending on what you are wheelin.

I agree, that there is no perfect wheelbase. I just want to dial in for the hardcore trails and steep ledges in the MWC and SEC.

Lol i love a good wheelbase discussion. Ill chip in.

The manche is 115 on 35s, with stock width axles. Its low and light, just how i like it. The balance is good and its very stable on long climbs and ledges. If i were upping the tire i would keep it as low as possible and leave to wheelbase. Tire size would alleviate any issues that i have driving it through rock garden type obstacles.

Since im staying at this tire size the buggy chassis will be setup at 112 and stock width axles. I think that would the best setup for 35s in a buggy for my terrain.

I think longer with the bigger tires, provided it remains as low as possible, is the most stable and capable setup for a ton jeep

Where is the advanced fabrication?? :twak:
