XJ N00B saying hello!

Hello everyone, I just thought I'd take a moment to say hello and introduce myself.

I recently picked up a '99 XJ, pre-modded and pre-dented. :) After having my TJ for four years, I decided it was time to make more room for band gear, camping trips, and the family.

I'm interested in getting together with fellow XJ'ers and going wheeling sometime, and I'd like to get involved with the NW chapter sometime.

I'll get a list of my mods and all that out sometime soon, just wanted to say hi for now. Looking forward to meeting you folks!

Have a good one!

welcome to the xj club and naxja! lots and lots of valuable info on here! congrats on your xj purchase, much better then those tj's ;)

but ya get a list of mods up on your new rig

Welcome! Just bought a modded '99 huh? It doesn't happen to be a maroon one from a guy named Marty, is it?

John

Heh... yeah it's Marty's old XJ that I bought. Just tuned it up and replaced the exhaust manifold. I have to give him a ration of sh*t about the exhaust pipe between the manifold and the cat that I need to replace as well. ;) For some odd reason it's been squished about halfway.

I've used my mad redneck skillz to pop most of the dents out (remove panels, go at it with 1/4" duct taped socket extension, a small piece of wood, and a rubber mallet), a got the fender flares back on it. :) Got a buddy who details cars that will buff the scratches (well, the ones that will come out) out of the paint for me as well.

So far I love the thing. Got some bumps and scrapes to fix, but I knew that going in. And Marty seems like one hell of a guy to boot, and would like to go wheelin with me when I take it out. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

So... my XJ's reputation precedes me... ;) Anything I should know about it before going on the trail that I may not have already found? LOL

Can't wait to get offroad again!

You got a good rig. I was sorry to see him have to sell it, but I'm glad it got picked up by somebody who will use it. The exhaust pipe smashed flat is like that from the factory for driveline clearance. All XJ's have it. We'll see you out on the trails sometime.

If you want to see where Marty did some of that damage, we'll be at Evan's Creek this weekend.

You can definitely tell the XJ NOOB :) hehehe

XJ's are unibody, no body lift without major surgery/welding/fabrication. There's no frame to lift the body from.

John

:p

OK... guess I will have to consider other lift options... ;)

Heh, at least I WARNED you I was a N00B about XJ's... LOL

Marty was crazy,.. one night I saw him drunk pissing all over the drivers side seat. LOL good times!

I pray to all that is holy and right that you're joking... I've sat in that seat with shorts on...

And all this while I thought it was stale mud... Marty's gotta see a doctor if he smells like that...

;)

Sick sick puppies... I think I will get along here well... LOL

Nice to hear I'm not the only noobie out there. Everyone does a real good job of making you feel welcome. I can't wait to get my rig out on the trail with the rest of you.

Yeah, I'm actually going to be gig-free and rehearsal-free next weekend. I'd be game to going for a run. I'd be up to anything from Tahuya to Evans Creek, or whatnot. Anybody feel like a run next weekend?

BTW, I love the sig, I tend to end up speaking and proving the fool I am... LOL
