XJ anti rock kit

I'm thinking this: Sway bars & links are pretty standard across the board, aren't they? Maybe you could just find a narrower diameter sway bar to fit the XJ, save a ton of money and get most of the benefits?
Unless there is some kind of voodoo or magic lamp involved with this kit, it really is JUST a thinner bar with longer arms. Hell. Similar benefits could probably be had for less.

Not entirely, dude... These are actual torsion bars with a specific rate. A thinner anti-sway bar stands a good chance of bending and staying there.

I hadn't realized there was a difference between a torsion bar with a specific rate and the sway bar thrown into every XJ, TJ, ZJ and Chevette ever made.
Duly noted.

The main bar is a torsion bar that allows slow articulation. Keeps axles from dropping out fast and stabilizes the vehicle. Unbelievable amount of stability, actually.

Yes - but if your understanding of a torsion bar is simply that it is a bar that is twisted to provide a resistance / spring-back action, then it is hard to see how it is different from a sway bar.
Now I know that the difference is in measured spring rate and probably metallurgy as well.

C'mon, now - easy enough mistake to make isn't it?

Yes yes....calm down....its ok......:kissyou:

I'd like to see flexed pics of the currie kit. Sway bars that utilize a straight peice of chromoly are the best at controlling sway.

It's definetly on my list.

This is a Currie TJ bar with mounts modded to fit an XJ. Not the greatest angle, but it's one that the PO sent me from a Best of the West trip he was on with it.

And another from the same trip, at Avalanche Ranch.

That looks great. Definetly more than enough flex than what I would need. Although it appears in the second picture that without the bar, the driver's side tire would be touching instead of being suspended in the air. whether or not that would make the difference of getting up that rock (unassisted) or not is pretty hard to tell.

But to me, stable weight transfer is more important than a couple more inches of droop. :)

My neighbor has one on his tj, he has no flex issues.

He keeps it on the softest setting, and it still feels great on road.

That's EXACTLY the point. Flex is cute on the ramps in the parking lots, but even if that tire were touching the ground it wouldn't have weight on it...so the traction just wouldn't be there. :)

And, y'know, I think I see a line Around the rock...

Believe it or not, sometimes we wheel for fun...not necessity. :D

:)
I do the rocks I can with 2.5" / 30s and console myself with being "practical" about the rest of them.
When budget allows, its LS1, D60's, 35s, longarms back to Moab.

Maybe! But Id rather feel my tire being there and know my shocks will control the weight transfer vs just having the nose roll over violently transfering weight AND inertia !!
Did you guys watch this?http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=972373

Btw:I would agree if your like unseating the springs and we see that all the time, thats worthless and scary!

Which way are your shocks valved? ;) Oh, and the anti-rock helps prevent that sudden weight transfer. :)

50/50.Its your pic,but sure looks like some flex would be in order! I hardly ever lift a wheel front or rear.

I like how you ignored the other pic entirely. :looser: What exactly would 'more flex' give to that situation? You've got a nice, lightly touching wheel on the rock with no weight over it...now what? It looks cool? :laugh2:

Neither pic really shows much, pics never do compared to video where you get to see it all happen and not just capture one moment.I guess I would go back to why everyone wants disco's to begin with? I just jumped in on the "better" than stock sway bar game.Still vote for the SS Tera bar for the best use of the word "easy".
