Bringing everything up to speed. About 6 weeks ago I swapped out the High Beam Robo Cop Headlights I had for the High Beam Offroad Predator series lights.. These are DOT approved, and are a direct fit..plug and play. Light output is essentially identical, cutoff is excellent..no complaints at all.
Old Robo Cop on the Left / New Predator Series on the Right:
Predator Series Lights:
Installed...they look sweet if I do say so myself:
Very happy with the install, all lights in the OHC, mirror vanity, courtesy lights, etc..even swapped out the license plate light for an LED bulb from them..highly recommended
(Its quite hard to capture just how bright they really are)
Took a couple weeks off for the holidays and got some things done..
Installed High Beam Offroad "Rok Pods"
This is a kit of 6 LED lights with a junction box, harness, switch..everything. Its literally mounting and figuring out how you want to run the leads (which are VERY long). They are waterproof, bluetooth controlled (switch turns them on/off) and are full color spectrum (RGB)
The phone app works very well, can change color from the phone, strobe, sync to music.
I mounted 2 just forward of the coils up front, 2 in the rear even with the T-case, and the rear 2 next to the upper rear shock mounts.
While the shocks were out I decided Id do something a bit different with the Reservoir mounts. Rather than running them with the Fox Billet Aluminum Clamps (which are stupid nice don't get me wrong) I decided to do an off shock resi mount...just something different..more for aesthetics than anything:
Once again changed my axle plans..I had had JK44s in mind...but they are fairly costly still.
I stumbled upon a factory rear XJ 44 for $120 bucks..snagged it.
Going to run it, paired with a front 44...however not sure what 44 yet..whether its a TJ rubi 44 front, or an aftermarket (currie/dynatrac)...
Went ahead and got some parts in for the rear 44...Ruff stuff perches/u bolt eliminators, new shock mounts..as well as a Chassis Unlimited Diff Cover:
Also got on board with Adams DriveShafts and got their Extreme Duty Shafts in...front and rear (even though my f/r shafts are identical length, etc with the SYE).. The build quality on these is fantastic, highly recommended. They are BEEF
We had a lot of people claim the upper joint would bind or contact the surface beneath it..however we proved that wrong today.
First off...currie designed the JJ in a manner in which the spherical joint body will not contact a mounting surface..all while allowing over 22* of movement in any 1 direction.
At full droop of my 12" travel front fox shocks there was no binding and no contact of the joint body on the x-member..
How do you like the Antirock sway bar for DD action? I do 100 miles commuting a day and like the idea of that sway bar but not sure how it performs on the highway. Really digging the Jeep and glad your rig led me to Cavfab. Going to pick up the Alpha steering system next month.
