[preface] I know its not jeep parts, but I know there are a handful of gun guys here so i figured i'd post it up and see if I can get any bites[/preface]

I picked up this gun with the intentions of it being a safe queen. Its in amazing shape and i've had it a whole year now and its never been fired. I cant really justify having two sig p228's. I bought the second one because I loved the first so much.

Its a KE date code gun and IS stamped W. Germany. This was one of the last p228's that OO got from sig and Jerry did not think he'd see any more come through. It is a CPO gun, but there is no way to tell this gun from NIB. Its VERY tight ( a good bit tighter then my other p228) and is an awesome piece.

I'm located in Corona, which is in Riverside County.

I'm really trying to trade it for something else I want. I'm not really interested in selling it because I'll either buy jeep parts I dont need to pile in my garage or spend it on booze and strippers.

my uncle has hundreds of guns i'll let him know :D

he rebuilt a cap & ball revolver that my great grandpa gave me it looked brand new when he was done with it he's like Mr. gun lol

I have about $625 into it.

You know... you can't legally buy a 70 series in Ca right? Nor would that be fair trade.

1. of course you can, I bought one last weekend. Learn the laws before you start preaching and end up looking lame.

2. it would not be a fair straight across trade, hence why i mentioned in my first post that I would also offer up cash.

A 70 series is not on the ca doj list of approved guns therefore the gun cannot be sold in ca. It won't pass a ca drop test. guns are one of my hobbies.

Private party transfers can't be done anymore. Legally. That's my argument. To legally transfer gun ownership in ca you have to take it to an FFL holder. who will do all the coresponding paperwork. i.e. you have to be legit or its a felony and they take all you guns. Go to turners and they'll tell you the same. That is the law. You can't legally do PPT anymore. The only way to get the old greats is if they fall under the grandfather clause. Example: I sell you my 70 series Gold Cup National Match for x dollars. The gun is registered to me. Since I sold the gun to you PPT. No change of ownership is registered. You take the gun home. Your kids friend steals it. Shoots your kid. I will be hed partly responsible, because I am the registered owner. Plus this old rig is an unsafe firearm cause u can't drop it from 15ft w/o it firing. The people that be don't want these guns here. Which in turn sucks. The gun laws get really tricky. Go ahead quiz me

Yea I know bad example. But even with the process the still wouldn't ok the sale of 70 series colt. As far as the stupid list if it's not on it it doesn't exist in the eyes of our great state.

As long as the handgun is not identified as a Assault Weapon by name or features it can legally be transfered between two CA residents during a Face to Face (ppt) transfer at a licensed FFL. The gun in question is then EXEMPT from the "safe handgun" list.

Honestly, i'm telling you, i bought a Colt Series 70 govt and a Colt Delta Elite this weekend, both items were on consignment at a gun shop. Both of those guns will not appear on the safe handgun list.

Please visit www.calguns.net and get educated so you stop spreading misinformed and damaging information.

OK that's new to me. As far as I knew all handguns sold in CA had to go through PFEC check. I'll take your word for it.
You're right. That's a good site.
