dThere's sumpin funky goin on in my tc, in that it likes to lock itself into PT 4WD when I hit certain bumps, and almost ALWAYS just as I'm pulling into my home driveway. It's farking annoying as hell. I figure I can tear it down to find out what's broke, or just buy a good used one and toss it in. I have a 242 in it now, but think since there's an aussie in front I don't necessarily need FT 4WD so I'll take whatever you guys've got.... assuming the shift linkage is the same. Which I need to ask - is it?
 
do you need a 21 spline or 23 spline?

the shift linkage should be the same but the driveshaft(s) may not be.
 
if the driveshafts are different lengths then I need to stick w/a 242. I don't want to buy a new ds too.
 
I think if you go with the 231 the front ds is different length. but if you buy at a JY they would prob throw it in for cheap.

I know someone that may have a 242 with a hack and tap sitting arond.
 
Gerr, this is the 2nd trans mount in 6 mos + more mounts in front.
lately it's been shifting around when I stop too, like I can feel the rear end 'soft thump' when I come to a stop.

when I bought this I found the TC empty. I have no idea how long it was ran without fluid.
I figure one of the bearings are shot.

I do not have a sye. Do they also have an extra shaft lying around if I get one?
