I know this may be a long shot... but I am looking for a Jeep 4.7 V8 for a 2001 WJ . Not sure what other years will work, I think the only difference is the flexplate having 16 or 24T ( I could be 100% wrong, maybe somebody could chime in). I would like a good running, non-knocking, no to low oil consuming unit.

Thanks, Eric

Someone snatched up that clean and cheap WJ I saw on the 'Springs Craigslist the other day..... didn't they...... :D

I must say, that sure looked like a great deal!

There are two flavors of 4.7 Standard and HO, 8th VIN# N and J respectively, and are not interchangeable.

The 16t and 32t refer to the tooth count on the crankshaft reluctor for the CPS.
They are swapable, but it is a headache. The determining factor is the PCM used to run the engine. if the PCM has 4 plugs, it will be a 32t reluctor.

All WJs used a 16t.

4.7s from dakotas and durangos are usable but the intake, oil pan and pick-up tubes must be swapped.

Last but not least, expect prices for a good used with a decent warranty to be around $1800.
