Hey im interested in buying a highend digital camera. im looking at spending around 1000 for the right set up.. or trade for the kawasaki dirtbike i have on here if the deal is right.

Id prefer a nikon d series but will entertain all offer. the more extra lenses the better. Ill be going to Cristalino lodge in brazil to work for a couple months. so any info on what camera i should look for. mainly for scenic photo shots. wildlife so. would be appreciated.

thanks

I shoot a Nikon D90 and love it. Fits that price point and comes with a pretty good 18-105mm lens. But, I've read that the newer D5100 is basically equivalent or better for the most part. That would also be in your price range but it looks like it comes with a 18-55mm lens, which is a decent lens but the 18-105mm has that extra zoom which I like and would be better for getting tighter shots of wildlife.

If you end up going Nikon, you can get some great shots with either kit lens (18-55mm or 18-105mm), but I would supplement (if you have the budget) with the Nikon 35mm/1.8 lens that is under $200 and works great as a carry around lens. Small, lightweight, sharp, and stops down to 1.8 for great DOF control and low light situations. I have the 50m/ 1.8 but my fiancee has the 35mm/1.8 and I find the 35mm to be more useful in walking around shooting since it has a wider field of view.

You can Google anything Nikon and add 'Rockwell' in the search and you find a very helpful website with more than you could every ask for in terms of Nikon information.

Sorry I don't have anything to sell, just got excited to talk about cameras. ;-)

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex (film)
DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex

As SLR is a type of camera where what you see through the viewfinder is (almost) exactly what will be seen on the picture. While shooting your picture, your view is directed through the same lens that will take the picture, rather than through something like an offset peep hole as seen on rangefinder style cameras (like those $5 disposable cameras at gas stations).

For comparison, a Twin Lens Reflex camera has two separate lenses - one dedicated to viewing, and one specifically for capturing the image.

Ive got a D90 I don't use any more that has little use along with the kit lens and a 50mm 1.8.

If interested, PM me and I'll look into a price.

The 50mm 1.8 is a fantastic lens.
