WTB Digital SLR camera

I am going to be in the market for an entry level digital SLR camera as soon as I get some past due receivables collected.
I know next to nothing about photography but have always wished that i had a decent camera when out traveling.

Just a friendly word. I bought my Camera just over a year ago, been around camera's my whole life and did about 2 years of research before I ended up buying one. Consider getting a Nikon D5000 (http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/25452/D5000.html)

I got mine on eBay refurbished with a whole bunch of extras for $500. If you can, get the D7000 but its quite a bit more.

I have the Nikon D5000 as well. Having been a professional photographer, I can say it delivers a very nice image for a reasonable cost. I got mine from Adorama.
