still learning about cherokees, i have a 89 cherokee lifted 4.5" on 33s. Stock gearing. currently i have a

C8.25 rear LSD -- Looking for a dana 35 with a locker? or 44 with a locker?200-350?
Also willing to take without a locker also 50-100?

Dana 30 lockers?

maybe a higher set of gears if they can come together for front and rear.

2" spacers for coils
2" shackles (mine are currently stock)

looking for 70% tread 33x12.5x15 (200-300?)

im more on a budget(arent we all?) but just having a difficult time searching for some parts.. just wanted to make a quick thread to see if anyone has any of these spare parts laying around.. thanks everyone

Why would you want to downgrade to a D35? Not sure about The C8.25 specifically, but I believe some companies make an insert locked for LSD equipped axles.
Good luck finding and D44 with locker for that price.
Cheapest Best bet would be to find a 4cyl XJ and swap axles, as 99% had 4.10s. Some had 4.56's Either are definitely better than stock gear ratio.

Are you sure you have the 8.25? They have a big lip on the bottom. If you do, keep it. Both 27 and 29 spline versions are pretty stout. I would personally run either one up to 35's locked. And you might have some good luck with that factory Trac-Lock LSD. Mine is super tight and can lock both rear tires together in the rocks. Has over 200,000 miles on it too.

And so you know, a Dana 35 would be a downgrade from your 8.25, and (if you have the 29 spline version) a D44 would be a marginal upgrade (In my opinion).

Here is the cool upgrade.... Goto pick-n-pull and grab a 8.8 rear out of a 96 to 99 Ford Explorer. You get 31 spline axles and better brakes. Your wheels will bolt right on, and you just need to weld on some new spring mounts. The one I picked up even has the 4.11 gears that work well with 32" or 33" mudders.

id run 37s on a 8.8 no prob. they are rated at higher torque rating than a 44, 31 spline versus 30 spline,8.8 ring gear versus 8.75, bigger tubes, bigger housing, and down the road truss it and run the c clip eliminator chromoly kit like in a year and run 39s.

you can get a 8.8 with 4.10s and limited slip from time to time for cheap. discs too.
just need to weld up perches, shock mounts, and get the flange while you're at pnp so you can bolt up your DS

Im building an 8.8 right now. Its taking me forever because I have at least 5 projects going on. Not hard to do at all, cut mounts off, flap disc tubes clean, buy swap kit that includes all the perches and shock mounts, measure, measure again, weld into place, bolt up, hook up brake lines, figure out something with the ebrake or dont use it, mount tires, go drive it.

Thanks for the replies , I am slightly down grading asking for a 35 but the 35s are more supported .. My c8.25 is 27 spline but I'm having a difficult time finding a locker due to having lsd.. I could only find a detroit locker which ones $700+ on it.. So if I get a 35 I can lock it up for more than half the price and upgrade axles... If anyone can point me in the right direction on locking my 8.25 27 spline LSD for half the price that'll be helpful also

I'm not too experienced in pulling out rear ends from other makers.. I tried to stick with jeep to jeep for less obstacles to swap it easier ..

Dont downgrade to a D35. Especially if you're going to lock it.

Do you really need a locker? Like I said, the factory LSD in my 8.25 with over 200,000 miles on it is super tight and acts like a locker offroad. Try pulling halfway off the road - Left tires on the pavement, right tires in loose dirt. Gas it and you should take off. If the passenger side starts spinning like crazy in the dirt and you slowly gain speed, then maybe a different axle (not a D35 :D) or a locker is in your future.

My 8.25 LSD is so tight that when I do that ^^ test, I cant spin the passenger tire in the dirt no matter how hard I try.. Maybe I got lucky? :dunno:

Just trying to save you a few bucks and a big headache.

Good luck!

thanks, yeah i wanted to lock up my front before my rear, because my plan is to have a locker front and rear, i just wanted to build a rear off my vehicle for a few months and lock the front for now.. just trying to get ready for the summer trails

Gotchya. Definitely lock the front first. I locked the front of my rig first and when I put the LSD in the back i could barely tell the difference.

spacers shipped

shoot alan (alboy97xj) a PM. I think he still has some leafs with an AAL for sale.
