Worlds Fastest SnowCat???

there is a guy down here i LJ that sets his H3 up like that in the winter. He does all the radio towers and maintains the LAW/EMS radios and repeaters and uses it to get to towers etc.

Not as cool as the Impreza though

I'd love to give this thing a spin in the snow covered hills.......

It's got a very well built Dodge 440 with fuel injection. Built to sustain high rpms for long periods of time. Sounds absolutely evil! :D

This is a pic of an ATV a rancher was using during a cattle rescue effort our Department helped with in southern Colorado. He let our unit Deputies take it out a few times and they loved it - so the Department now has 2 of these.

I've got a video of this thing flying around a snow covered meadow throwing 20 foot rooster tails..... :D

If I had millions of dollars I would do everything the same way Block is doing it. What a way to live. He must be doing something right, I pretty much buy DC products only because of the ill shizz he's doing.

I know who the fawk Ken Block is ya goob.

As already stated, I was merely stating that those tracks put a lot of leverage on the Impreza suspension..... which wasn't designed to have those kinds of leverages applied to them -- I don't care even if it was a specially prepared Rally car..... Are you aware that the lug nuts and studs are the only things attaching those Mattrax to the Impreza? No one in their right mind could argue that the Impreza's unit bearing, cast knuckle, ball joints, etc. could or should be expected to hold up to such a huge difference in leverage, traction, weight and what not. Look at the ground clearance those tracks provide...... Much more than the 18" tire/wheel combo that Impreza is normally gonna run........

The vid of that car running around clearly shows someone is driving it pretty conservatively..... certainly not with the grunt that Impreza is capable of.... nothing stated about the damn driver. I could fawk up that Impreza just as easily as Ken Block could. :twak:

Your logic is understandable, but then again Rally cars are designed to do speeds upward of 100mph over rough terrain and be launched into the air repeatedly. I'm not saying its strong enough to withstand be jumped with the added stress of those Trax on it, but I'm sure it can handle some abuse.

Now, in defense of Troy's argument. Here is why he had to build a new car i the first place.

I agree that those Trax units put a lot of extra stress on the hubs and suspension, not to mention the massive increase in unsprung weight. However I highly doubt that the cmponents are so stressed out that they're bound to fail at any given moment.

One thing you guys aren't considering is the Trax abilities to withstand a lot of speed too. I don't have any experience with them myself but I do know tha in the Army we have a problem with our tracked vehicle throwing tracks. An M1 Abrams will do 45mph governed and will hit speeds over 60mph with those govenors removed. Problem is they'll throw their tracks off every few miles at those speeds. There was a big problem with that during the initial invasion in 2003.
