Plan on us being there, wherever it ends up.
We're not wheeling snobs.

I'm looking forward to Winterfest. It's a good time. But for wheelin' ... I'm ready for another Sweatfest.

I'm no snob either ...

You are not required to be a member to come to a run. Watch this forum for up coming runs and feel free to join us, there is always someone to "show you the ropes" and help you when needed. Most runs include a "easier" trail to get you up to speed.

So, come out and meet us in person...you will never be the same.

Though I love playing in snow, a Winterfest in balmy sun drenched Indianna would be closer, and more likely to happen for me than Oklahoma. I suspect that goes for the Milwaukee/Chicago/Rockford group also. I vote Badlands or Rockport (never been there, they tell me it's nice...).

Ditto Rev's insight into Bowhunter's thinking he needs to actually JOIN NAXJA.
Nope, it's not a requirement, but I believe you Must (and I repeat for the hard of hearing), Must meet the clubs paltry safety specs to do a club run (though I think a fire extinguisher should be an option for Newbies). I've just about had it with stragglers who latch on to your group as a tag along and don't have the minimum equipment; Tow strap and Tow points.
I haven't "searched" (Bad Ron!) to see if the specs are on every club event forum; if they are not, they should be a "sticky".

NAXJA minimum equipment list is a requirment for ANY MWC run, official or not.

Section 3: Required Equipment for Event Participation
  1. NAXJA VERY HIGHLY recommends that all event participants have a CB Radio.
  2. NAXJA requires all listed items to be present, and available for use, for a vehicle to be permitted to participate in a event. Participants are expected to stow equipment and all other items within their vehicle in a safe manner, conscious of the effects of OHV use and possible shifting of items.
  3. NAXJA Safety Inspectors will use this list for safety inspections prior to any event. The Safety Inspector has final say in approval or rejection of any vehicle for event participation and may at anytime defer to a second event or club officer for additional ruling.
  4. NAXJA expects each event participant to carry insurance and registration sufficient to meet the legal requirements of their vehicle state of residence and for the roads and trails traveled for the event. NAXJA is not responsible for assuring an entrant's vehicle is legal for the roads and trails traveled in the event.
Equipment List
  1. Visibly charged fire extinguisher (BC or ABC)
  2. First aid kit
  3. Adequate spare tire, jack and lug wrench
  4. Safety belts for driver and any current passenger
  5. Adequate attachment points in the front and rear of the vehicle:
    1. Acceptable forms of attachment points: (All Items must be mounted in a manner to provide adequate strength and integrity)
    2. Tow hooks of OEM or greater integrity
    3. D-Rings
    4. Shackle/Clevis
  6. 20ft 10,000lb snatch strap without any metal hooks
  7. Secured battery (no bungee cords)

what month is winterfest in?

I agree with Zuki-Ron. Winterfest probably won't happen for me if it goes to OK. Rockport is a maybe for me. If WF is in Attica, I think we should talk to the guy at Summers to see if he'll hook us up. There would be quite a few people so maybe he'd open up for a weekend. Worth at shot and better than the POS "campground" outside the park.

Last year it WF was held in March. Typically, I believe it's usually held in Feb.

hummm, so it's not just me. I knew that. hasta

the big thing that makes the "POS" campground really, really nice is that for those of us that don't wheel street legal heeps is that we don't have to trailer, or bus, our junk to the park.

The times that we had stayed just out of the park were still fun, yes, there could be a few trees to block the wind but Bloose and I have that all under control, you'll see when we get there, and we will be there. circle the big rigs, common.

Thats understandable, but Summers still beats it by a long shot. Wouldn't be bad if there were "real" showers. At any rate, I'll be where the campfire is no matter the location in Attica. Your just too hardcore, not being street legal and all.:laugh3: Hopefully, my XJ will be that way too someday. Hoping to have the 8.8 in by WF to put it through the paces.

I like the Attica Family Campground for Winterfest. It's close to the park which is very convienient. Additionally, those coming and going from Motel rooms do not have to drive 20 miles out of their way to "indulge" in the campfire "festivities". It just works well for Winterfest because of it's location ...

As far as actual camping, Summers is a bit more aesthetic, but who is there for that anyway.

True dat...

However, I do like warm showers.

No, not golden.

I'm definitely a traditionalist pansy! Attica gets my first vote and anywhere centrally located to the Midwest and not just included in it by default gets my distant second vote.

I would be very surprised if the CG didn't have hot showers this year. Their problem stemmed from a non working anti-scalding valve. I guess maybe it did work, no one got scalded. :) I would be very surprised if they didn't get that fixed right after we left, they couldn't get it fixed on the weekend as they couldn't get a hold of the plumber. In reality a shower of any sort would have been considered a luxury at past Winterfests.

If I remember right there was a problem with the CG not being open in the dead of winter. You want to talk pansies, in years past we didn't plan Winterfest around CG or hotel accommodations. We didn't need no stinkin CG or hotel, etc. Man if you’re not suffering at Winterfest what's the point?

Make Winterfest at Attica, or another central Midwest local in the dead of winter and I'll be there like I have for EVERY Winterfest so far. Put it in a very near southern state in March and I'll likely still be making repairs to my Jeep from my annual winter trip to Attica.

B-loose

Man, it's a shame that you guys aren't open to better wheeling to go with the camping.
As for us, we'll be there even if it were being held in Canada.
We're not afraid of change.
It's not like we have some secret event that nobody can come to.
What's wrong with having an event with actual GOOD wheeling?
Maybe we should have a MWXJ Winterfest for the 5 whiners that will just die if they don't go to Attica and a NAXJA Winterfest for everyone else that wants to get some good FREE wheeling with their campfire fun.
You don't even have to take showers, even though there is a shower house at the CG.
