Has anyone else's mileage just taken a hit?
I'm running ~2mpg less on the last tank, not driving any differently, new cat & full 30K tune up with fresh gear oil and all... Wondering if I should pull the 02 sensor or chalk it up to poor quality gas this time of year... Bueller?

Same here. They must have switched over sometime in Oct, I've been noticing it for a few weeks.

I noticed it in my Mustang, I can still spin the tires at 65 mph in 3rd gear though but it doesn't pull as hard. I wish I was driving my Jeep but thats another story :(

i was thinking since its so cold out it takes longer to get into closed loop and therefore running in open loop longer my mpg has been worse than normal the last few months...

hows your TPS? adjusted properly ? tested o2 sensor ? map sensor? vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks, tire pressure, check egr, i noticed the other day ive been driving since late september on 20psi, never fully aired up after my last run...

i wonder if using a thinner oil (10w 30 with MMO?) than thick summer oil (20w 50 with lucas?) might help a little???

My kid has been logging his mpg on each tank since he bought his XJ last Spring. I'll have to ask him to post his results and if he's noticed any differences.

In my last oil change I went with some 10w-30( and some MMO actually, lol) as the parts store did not have the full syn 40 weight I wanted. And my mileage is still lower. So doubtful.
I am only running 235s, but am running 32 psi in my tires since I got these crappy bfg at's. So, its the fuel, at least for me.

it seems like im getting like 5mpg these days. used almost a quarter tank in two days and i work a mile from home, and only drove to a few stores within 6 miles of the house. new sensors, gaskets, injectors, etc etc

I've been getting spikes all year, but all between 11 and 15.5, I have my windows down in summer and heater has been on recently. August's average was about 11 mpg, could been school driving through residential...and on highway trips it leaps to 15. I dont notice any differences or a lower average besides the usual spikes.

My last tank of fuel in my Golf TDI was down a couple of mpg to 44mpg. Winterizing diesel fuel is done by mixing pump No. 2 diesel with No. 1 diesel. The biggest effect on mileage for me was the replacement of ULD with ULSD. The anti-gel additives used in the ULD does not work properly in the low sulfer blends being distributed now.
Unfortunatly cetane ratings (octane for diesels) do not have to be posted. It can be difficult to be sure you are receiving good fuel. I always add Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane.
All-in-all I am still satified with the mph of Rapid Transit.

The Jeep? No idea of fuel mileage. Ain't good though.

Who needs fuel mileage in a Jeep, I say just drive in a straight line and wheel everything...its like a short cut to make up for lost MPG. It should be allowed kind of like hybrids in the car pool. We just need little refelctive rock stickers on our rear armor that reads "wheeling ok" and we can do as we please.

Just filled up and with the same driving it's now at a whopping 10.9 compared to 12.2 a few weeks prior. Maybe the winter gas finally arrived?

id kill for 10.9 right now.
the 4.88s help, but the 35s but dont...short in town drives make it worse it seems...
im just thankful i work a mile from home until i get my 4runner fixed...

The winter gas puts me at a 14 average. I take the bus to school every day now, thats good for mpg's!
