Winter camping

Since I didn't notice another thread. I was wondering if anyone is interested in winter camping this season?

Possibly thanksgiving weekend to start

I camp in the winter regularly. I've got a nice spot on Slaughterhouse trail that a buddy and I have "farmed" if you will for a solid season. Probably a half of a dozen times last winter. (*EDIT; The reason for running Slaughterhouse is it stays passable damn near all year long. The hill we're on is also South facing. To maximize heat and light time.)

I'm totally down. My buddy usually is too, but has less ability to get time off of work.

My Jeep will be retired this winter season for upgrades and repairs, but if you're willing to drive I'm good to buy beer, gas, food, whatever. I'm quite the cook, as that's what I'm doing for a living these days.

I love winter camping. There's no one else out there, and it for some reason seems more rewarding to not only be out into some remote areas but to beat the elements while you're at it. It really feels more like surviving than camping. Truly awesome.

I have all my own gear as well. I also have a bit of basic EMT skills under my belt including CPR. Always go with a proper first aid kit. I have snowshoes in case of a hike out scenario as well.

I'm easy to get along with and I'm 25.

This is my buddy and I camping @ Slaughterhouse last January.

Slaughterhouse is west of Boulder right?
Yeah I knew there were at least a couple of us out there. I have no problem driving if you don't mind riding with a couple dogs. My brother and a couple cousins want to go too.

If we do Slaughterhouse I may just limp my rig up there. She should be alright.

I'm totally in for Thanksgiving weekend. Although I may work Saturday. No big deal though, I work in Aspen Park/Conifer so I'd be just down the road. I'm already packed from my last camping trip, all I gotta do is throw the trail running gear in the rig the night before. I could meet up with you guys. If it's a for sure thing, I can probably request the time off if I get my request in within the next couple of days. Maybe I can get the in laws to watch the step kid and my lady would come too..

I'm all for winter camping. As Doug said, we 'll be camping the weekend of Dec 7th. Most likely around Bunce/Iron Clads.

I might be down for Slaughter House with you guys. Probably just for 1 night though.

As for the cold, that's what camp fires and whiskey are for.

Perhaps egg nog and rum!

Okay let's do Saturday just the one night.

quoted for troof! I winter camped last weekend down in the Sangre's (or the edge anyway) FUN!

winter=cold
cold=no camping around here

unless you hunt

you're not in TX anymore. Lots of folks love the winter camping for some of those given reasons. Just a good excuse to bring a bigger bottle and build a bigger fire. Its pretty popular in this corner too

I'd be down with winter camping. I look for any reason to get away from civilization for a few days. Just a matter of coming preparred and insulating the area between you and the ground while sleeping. It's a lot of fun.
