Will a TJ Dana 30 bolt into an XJ?

this is like the proverbial "white buffalo" of the XJ world.. i'm pretty sure the 4.56s were an MJ-only item in 2.5L/automatic/D35 2wd.. Eagle had/has one rusting away in his fleet...

No I have been at a junkyard with 2 XJs with 4.56s.

They were late 80s 2.5/AW4/D30/D35 vehicles heavily optioned out (one even had a sunroof)

Believe me, I popped the cover and did the math using the numbers stamped on the ring gear.

I really don't think there's any regional spec XJs or anything, but when you load down an XJ with options and ask for a 4 cyl/auto...you need some serious gear to get moving.

I had one(parts rig), 89 2.5L/AW4/231 combo. I believe Prepmech still has the D30. Somebody out west got the D35 gears. I kept the axle tag for proof. JIM.
