We ended up camping on Tincup. The Titan shelled the rear driveshaft right before the shelf-road section of Grizzly.Tincup was still snowed-in and unpassable at the top switchbacks as of yesterday.Grand Mesa still has 3 feet of snow on top and all campgrounds were closed as of last Saturday.Cinnamon Pass-Engineer Pass/Alpine loop looked like they were still snowed-in up above timber line(I did a little traveling this past week-roughly 1100 miles of adventure ).All in all the wife and I had a great time-my fist trip to the San Juans

First things first, A big thanks from my family to the entire crew that made the trip up to Grizzly/Tincup. You made us feel welcome even though it was our first time out with you. We all had a great time and look forward to another trail run.

Led,
Get on those Nisasan folks about that driveshaft!!

Here's a few pic's of the shaft...

Thanks Frank.Had a good time camping with your family as well and,I must say,you have two of the most well behaved kids I've camped with :) .I'll try and get some pics posted up(have a real good one of the culvert in mid-roll)tomorrow.I ended up driving 1121 miles on my week-long jaunt. On another note:I guess Cinnamon and Engineer are open so disregard that part of my last post.

And to think I was almost tempted to take the Wife's WJ on this trip. :laugh3: Still can't get the brakes to work right on the XJ.

Zac was really disappointed he didn't get to fish at Grizzley lake, so we took a day trip to Skagway reservoir. Good time, but no fish. The facility was really trashed, I was really disgusted by what some so-called outsdoorsman do to public property.

Yea, cause for those of us not there this "Culvert of Death!!" needs some splainin' But I think I understand, and that makes the idea of more pics that much more appealing!

These are the phone numbers to check on Redcone with the forrest service. They control the gate. Last year, they actually came out and opened the gate for me so I could break trail. They are really nice. I make sure and thank them for the hard work.

We ended up going the back way up to radical hill everthing else is gated and snowed in. We where able to get over to breck but it was not easy. Most everything below tree line is ok, but as soon as your above you better be ready for snow feilds.

jeff, so you guys didn't get to iron chest after all?

glad you had a good time otherwise...

btw, there's a bit of water at coney flats:

Led's busted driveshaft caused a bit of change in the plans so the Iron Chest run was scratched. Here's a few pics of myself, Justin, and Daniel comming down the grizzly lake trail on Saturday.

Fishing? Oh yeah there's a few fish in the lake. Here's one of my son, right before he reeled this one in he aske me "Dad, What does it mean when you can't see your bobber anymore?" (We usually use flies and lures.)

Nope,no Ironchest-heard its still closed by snow up high.We ended up camping on Tincup Pass after the Titan(ic)'s driveshaft broke going up to Grizzly. Some of the guys ran Grizzly on Saturday.Me,Joey and Dennis tried to go over Tincup to Mirror Lake to do some fishing but the pass is blocked by snow at the top so we fished some beaver ponds on the way back down.Caught a bunch of small Brook Trout
